I titled this painting "En Plein Air" with the French term meaning "painting outside on location." This isa painting that was in an art show at the Dallas Arboretum. My first attempt to paint "en plein air" was rained out and had to return another day. Such are the hazards of painting on location...along with heat, mosquitoes, and nosy squirrels. During the process of painting in what I thought was a private area just off a pathway, I heard a clicking noise, turned around and found that about 20 people were taking pictures of my creative endeavor! Privacy is another element that is often forfeited when painting out-of-doors. It is also a very good way to meet interesting people. If interested, you may contact me at:

Thank you for looking...Happy Easter!

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
