Hearts of Gold Zinnias and Delphiniums was inspired by the wildflowers along the trails of Flower Mound, Texas. My husband and I have been taking 5 mile walks over the holiday weekend in the mornings, and the weather has been perfect. We're getting these walks in before the summer heat lands upon Dallas with both feet! When we moved to Flower Mound from Laguna Hills, California, 10 years ago this month, we decided Flower Mound was the closest thing to Orange County, CA, we could find, with 52 miles of bike paths, sanctuary neighborhoods, and a Smart Growth Plan that banned industry from taking down any mature trees in development projects. We still love Flower Mound, and most of all I love being close to my mom and my family back here in Texas. To see Hearts of Gold in the studio, visit my art blog. I hope you have some pleasant meandering ahead!

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
