Siren Song Sunflowers was created while storms raced across North Texas. I was so busy painting I did not hear the tornado sirens, but caught the last few moments of a news cast where they said that a tornado had touched down here in Flower Mound. Someday I'm sure they will create a system where people are alerted in their homes, since the sirens can be very difficult to hear, even when you are paying attention. I always wonder about people with hearing challenges - how are they notified? The best thing still, it seems, is the good old fashioned local news program on TV. The internet never quite seems to keep up with the live coverage. Fortunately, we survived the storm tonight with just a bit more rain. What a strange spring it has been!

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
