Purple Iris



  Hello folks.  I have been off the blogging and face book posting for a while due to unforeseen circumstances.

  Now that I’m back, I would like for you to view a small painting I’ve done recently.

This painting is a watercolor, size 7x5.  The purple bearded iris is one of many type flowers I grow in my yard.  One beautiful characteristic of the bearded iris are the thin velvety petals.  When the iris is back lit, the petals are almost transparent.  These irises have a licorice aroma.  Not only eye candy for an artist, but smells like candy too.

  You may purchase this small 7x5 watercolor for $75.00.  It is painted on 300 lb. paper.

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

  CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.

 I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
