Aren't these adorable little baby moccasin slippers? I really love how these turned out.  A little background info on these: my sister and cousin and I were all flying through a store to find something (not shoes) and out of the corner of my eye I saw these cute little slippers.  We quickly found a blue towel in the home-goods section of the store and propped them up for their photo shoot.  My sister and I worked on the photo shoot as my cousin stood guard for us, in case a store employee got their feathers ruffled.

I often wonder what makes a good painting: the subject, the colors, the composition, the reference photo, the brush strokes? or is it the joy you have in your heart when you are painting it? hmmmm, what do you think?

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
