Fleeting Moments Hydrangeas is a new take on an old painting, that got a bit of holiday polish this evening in Flower Mound Studio. I boosted the greens and added some purple and blue petals to a previously rather flat looking set of white hydrangeas. I also added some tiny black seeds to my watermelon, because, for some reason, black seeds just look better on a red watermelon than white seeds. The house is all clean and ready for Thanksgiving festivities next week, and I just got back from a visit to mom's house last night. She is doing well on her new medication for her breathing, and seemed really happy. She pulled a chair up to me at the kitchen table and put her arms around me and told me she "loved her Nan." This time last year, we were gathered around her hospital bed, and Dr. Glick had told us things did not look good. She pulled through. My mom is one stubborn gal! I am going to cherish every moment with her on Thanksgiving Day next week, her favorite holiday. I have so much to be thankful for this year.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
