In the footsteps of Paul by Martie Rains

Ephesus Steps
8x10 oil on canvas

Last July, I wrote about the remarkable Roman ruins in Ephesus, Turkey. This ancient city is not only the site of an advanced civilization, but one of the many places where St.Paul evangelized, spreading Christianity among the Gentiles. I was fortunate to be able to visit Ephesus and walk along the same marble streets as Paul when he preached the word of Christ to the Ephesians. Another holy site near Ephesus is The House of the Virgin. It is believed that the Virgin Mary traveled with St. John to Ephesus to live out her life after the Resurrection of Christ. The House of the Virgin is a popular pilgrimage site for Christians and Muslims alike. You may purchase "Ephesus Steps" at a special Christmas price by clicking here. Layaway available. The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
