Painting Flowers in Oils

September 21, 22 and 23, 2012
9 am to 4 pm
9198 Crestwyn Hills Drive
Memphis, TN 38125

I'm painting white roses in the studio today, while the helpers and I have been celebrating - my first out of state painting workshop is set - and it's official Tennessee! I'm coming your way! I'll be teaching a flower painting workshop September 21, 22, and 23, in Memphis and limiting the group to 12 students.

I have some pretty spectacular painting friends in Tennessee, and it seems so fitting that I'm going to teach in the state from which my great-grandmother's family left for Texas in a covered wagon many years ago. It's a bit like revisiting some extremely long-lost family roots, and getting to reconnect with some very special friends at the same time. Put a little joy in your brush and join me! I would love to see you there. Read more...

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
