I photographed this lily in Northern Minnesota.  I have never seen a lily with ruffled petals before but this red lily had ruffled edges.  I didn't like the underpainting in the background of this flower so I painted gouache over the background.  I like the contrast of the flat gouache against the flower's transparent watercolor.
