"The Good Feelings of Pottery"   Oil    12x16
Sold

Greetings from my Studio.

This was my first attempt at painting a black Indian pot and I cheated a little bit.
I chose to paint the carved design only on the upper section of the pot.  This allowed me to have a nice black shiny surface on which to put my reflected lights and highlights.  Keeping the pot less busy seemed like a good idea and I believe it worked.  I used the same blue green in the blanket and the color of the garlic for the highlights and reflected lights on the pot.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
