This particular painting has had a nice history to it. It's actually traveled quite a bit and went to an Art Show in California at the Randy Higbee 6x6 Show in Costa Messa. I will tell you a little about the painting and some history. The boat in the background used to be a live-aboard and for a longtime it was anchored in what's called Offats Bayou. It's more like a big Bay with marina and housing boat launch area etc. Well it had taking a beating from a recent hurricane that hit Galveston. When I visited after the storm this boat was actually on top of dry land about 3-4miles further down the Bay. This boat is actually pretty big over 40feet. Years later it popped up. It was interesting to find it here in this dry dock that repairs boats. When I visit the Gallery here in Galveston I usually go down the Harborside Drive and this scene is located right between two big buildings and if you don't look for it while driving you'll pass right by it. I'm always on the lookout for something to paint and this caught my eye immediately. It's been on my wall for a while now and I thought it's time to put it up for sale in hopes of becoming someones little jem on there wall.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
