 I recently finished up this commission piece for a new collector. I had to work from photograph they provided me, but I was able to use a lot of artistic licence on the background. This was actually the client's idea and I was happy to fulfill it. This was the first time I've tried to paint such curly hair and while it was a great challenge, it was also a lot of fun to work on.   CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.

 I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
