This is one of my favorite lures to fish with. I love the way it skips and jumps along the top of the water enticing the fish below to strike it. And when they do, there's no bigger thrill! The site of a large bass breaking through the water and splashing down on the bait is one I don't think I'll ever get tired of. Painting it was just as much fun! It took a few tries to get the lure to stand up like this and balance on its hooks. The whole time I painted it I had this fear of it falling over and being able to get it back into position. Luckily, this never happened and I was able to fishing the painting without any troubles.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
