"Haunted" - original watercolor

 HAUNTED
by Debbie Cannatella
26"x40" transparent watercolor
(34"x48" FR)

As a child I wanted a spider monkey for a pet and my mom would answer "I'd rather have a horse in the house", but my interest in monkeys never stopped and one can always find me at the monkey exhibit when visiting a zoo.  This guy was at a zoo in St. Paul and was scratching and fidgeting the entire time I photographed him. Suddenly he turned and looked dead-on with this haunted expression and a connection was made. It was emotionally jolting for me and I had to paint him. I always begin with the eyes... and we developed a relationship during the painting of this guy.. This is one of a series of wildlife paintings that will be in a new one-woman solo exhibition "The Natural World" in the Kuchera Gallery at the Art Center of Corpus Christi, Texas for the month of November 2013. The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website
