"Spring at The DeGolyer"
(Dallas Arboretum)
8" x 10" Oil on Canvas
by Kyle Wood
Spring is one of my favorite seasons of the year and The Dallas Arboretum is such a beautiful place to visit and see during the Spring Months. Here is my interpretation of the entrance to The DeGolyer Estate. Working from photo references I took a few years ago, I painted up a small painting, focusing on the the door, vegetation, shadows, and light around the doorway. For more color interested, I added some blooming Bougainvillea, which is typically found growing on the walls of many Spanish Courtyards. The blooming Bougainvillea seemed appropriate for the Spanish Colonial Revival Style Home that was built in 1940. Enjoy!
