Reflections - An original still life oil painting by George De Chiara

Reflections 10 x 10 inches  Oil on Panel George De Chiara Click here to bid. Reflections is the latest painting to come from the studio. I didn't set out to include so many reflective objects in my scene, but as it evolved more of more shiny objects seemed to find their way in there.  Some of them were easier to paint than others.  I must have wiped off and repainted the bronze planter three or four times before I was happy with it, for example. The biggest struggle I had with painting it was keeping the color harmony correct within the bronze. Finally, I remembered one of the things Richard Schmid talks a lot about in his videos, using your color charts when painting. I must admit I've let mine collect a little dust over the last year or two, but I don't think I'll let that happen again. As soon as I pulled them out and studied which ones had the colors I was seeing in the bronze things came together quickly with the painting. Lesson learned. Thank you Mr. Schmid!...

Horse 24 Walking the Lines, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Walking the Lines 9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Texture fills this new small equine painting. Texture filled with edges of paint, criss-crossing and forming hatches and jags throughout the surface of the horse painting. With a cool palette of blues, mauves and greens, accent colors pull strongly with the oranges contrasting the blues. What do you have in life that is a contrast for you? I really tend to be conservative and live my life without gambling or taking many chances. Strange though, this does not apply in my artwork. My artwork is the contrast in my life as well as one of the greatest gifts I have, the ability to create.  Terry laughs at me. I love to go into Lowe's or Home Depot and walk through the wood aisles.  I love the smell of wood. I believe in another life I would have been a carpenter as it is as muc...

Halos and Hydrangeas and a North Texas Workshop - Flower Paintings by Nancy Medina

Halos and Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina 20X20 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Follow Me on Facebook My Art Newsletter  I planted all but one pot of hydrangeas from my Louisiana workshop last week. The last bunch to hold up under the studio spotlight was featured in Halos and Hydrangeas today, and tomorrow the plant itself will go into my garden. It's the ultimate in recycling! Paint the flowers, plant the flowers. My next two workshops are full, so I've opened up a new workshop in North Texas, and another in Spring, near Houston, in the new gallery located in the heart of this charming town. My workshops are open for beginners to advanced painters, and I share how to make your paintings more dramatic, how to simplify your shapes and create exciting, clean color, and most of all, how to paint loosely, giving your work energy and flow. Put a little joy in your brush and let's make flowers bloom in br...

Horse 22 Gaze of Strength, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 22 Gaze of Strength 8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.  Available Paintings Here Remnant   tinges of the raspberry pink bleed through the reds and mauves on this surface of a horse painting. The startling effect of the Indian Gold on the neck near the mane creates a path for the eye to feel the gentle neck of the horse.  Strength in the face and eyes on this equine, hence the name, Gaze of Strength. Finally the trees are budding out with green leaves.  It is officially spring by the calendar. I noted on the weather news last night the record high for a date last week was 100 degrees. ??? (this is March?)  We were at a high that day of 54 and a low that night around freezing. It happened in 1916. Ninety-eight years ago.  I actually remember in 2007, seven years ago, we had the wettest spring and summer I had seen in my life time. We never ...
