Jimmy Longacre_subjective realist landscape paintings_AUSTIN TOWERS

Forgive the corny title.  I'm easily amused.  This is part of a series of experiments where I'm teaching myself to work with much thicker paint than my comfort zone dictates.  It's a lot of fun to cut the ties with how I'm used to working and having to deal with what's happening with the paint.  It's so easy to get trapped repeating what has worked in the past, and just trying to go with that. Don't get me wrong, there's a place for developing what you know, especially when galleries are expecting you to deliver dependable, recognizable work.  But, there's also a time for doing what feeds our creative impulse to explore.  For that we have to go outside our comfort zone.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
