Contemporary Floral Landscape

I was back in the studio yesterday, and got my palette knife out and created this painting. The paint is layered on the panel, giving it texture and depth. I moved the paint around quite a bit once it was on the panel. The horizon line was changed numerous times...I wanted it to fade into the background, and needed to mix my oils over and over to get a hazy far-away look. I hope the viewer will feel good looking at this painting, as if he/she is standing in the field on a beautiful, delightful afternoon. I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it. I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas. I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting. 24"x40" and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.

I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting. But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt. So maybe I can slip it into the blog! If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
