Original Contemporary Modern Art Abstract Paintings by Filomena de Andrade Booth

Nature's Bounty
24"x24"x1.5"
Acrylic on canvas

There's something magical that happens when an artist begins to paint.  Even our best intentions get side tracked and instead of following one path, we end up somewhere else.  That's what happens when I paint intuitively.  My intention was to paint an abstract but the painting was directing me elsewhere.  I had almost decided to give up and just cover the canvas with gesso, but something was telling me to keep going...and so I did.  As I continued to layer color on top of color, this floral began to emerge.  Sometimes it's just best not to fight it!

Nature's Bounty measures 24"x24".  This colorfully textured canvas is stretched on 1.5" bars.  The sides are painted in micacous iron oxide, a gray/black color.  It does not need to be framed.  It is signed on the side, dated and signed on the back.  A layer of acrylic varnish has been applied to protect the beauty of this work.  A Certificate of Authenticity is included.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
