GRAY RAINY DAYS call for something other than the snappy light and dark patterns of a sunny day.  You have to look for contrasts of a different sort, local color patterns, textures, chromatic shifts.  This subject had all that going on.  The truck was a gorgeous pale tourquoise, with shiny,sparkling paint and chrome.  It was fun to set it against the background of dark oaks and to play up the complementary notes of the roadside wildflowers.

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

  CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.

 I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
