"Appalachian Homestead" by Kyle Wood

"Appalachian Homestead" by Kyle Wood
4" x 6" Oil on Canvas

Here is one of my small paintings that I did this past week.  This cabin is located at Mountain Farm Museum in Cherokee, North Carolina, which is part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. My wife and I have spent the last two summer vacations visiting this national park.  It is one of the largest national parks in the United States.  I like painting historical places and was impressed on how much history has been preserved here.  Both trips have provided me new inspiration / ideas for paintings.  For the painting, I decided to paint this scene in autumnal colors.  This painting will be part of my upcoming "Scenic Excursions" Solo Art Exhibit at The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, TX. Show Opens on Saturday, September 26th.  More details to come!

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
