This one is an example of a game I enjoy playing. Take a plain, ordinary scene and try to find the seed of a fun painting idea in it. Then, do everything I can think of in a painting to give dramatic emphasis to that one thing_"the seed".  This is actually the guiding objective in any of my paintings.  The difference here is the humble source.  Not much to really stop for.  

Having one simple idea of what you're trying to emphasize in your painting is a great way to give your painting impact.  Let the one thing govern all your decisions about what you want to do in your painting.

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

  CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.

 I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
