White Oleander Wins Third Place Honors by Dawna Hasara

Super honored to have been notified that I was awarded third place in the #galveston juried competition currently on display at the Affaire d'Art Gallery in historic downtown Galveston. My painting "White Oleander" was the chosen award winner of the three accepted. It's a wonderful showing of island themed pieces reflecting all the Galveston has to offer. Make plans to visit! I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it. I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas. I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting. 24"x40" and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.

I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting. But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt. So maybe I can slip it into the blog! If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
