Tree Shadows, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Tree Shadows 20x16 oil on canvas It was all about the shadows and the shapes the trees created with the burning light.  I was on a trip with 4 of my sisters and we stopped at the LBJ National and Historical Park to paint. Sea Cliff Haze..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

Having traveled along the Amalfi Coast and seeing the wonderful vista of cliffs and misty coastline, this image evolved from memory. I often draw on my imagination when painting, I find it quite meditative. Just to let myself go with the rhythm of the sea and allow the marks to 'flow' from your fingertips.. Soft background music is also a help with this particular way of painting. I know a lot of my students go through some angst when they can't pluck an image out of their heads and I understand this. It's not for everyone.. Even if you use a photo to begin a painting, put it away after the first few basic design strokes, and let your memory work for you, it does work, and you will get more of a 'personal feeling' about your scene which is (for me) far more seductive for your viewer. I was trained to visually see a scene and memorize it a lot, especially with seascapes.  Also doing so many demos for various art groups, sometimes I have to use wha...

Visiting Siena Italy with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams on their Tuscany Art Trek

Siena ©2017 Niki Gulley • 12" x 9" oil painting  Day 4, Tuscany Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams On the fourth day of our Tuscany Art Trek, we headed to the Medieval hill town of Siena, with its incredible marble Duomo, great people-watching plaza, and interesting alleyways radiating out from the campo with something new to discover around every turn. While some of our group shopped, some photographed and others relaxed on the square, I set up in one of the quiet cobble streets to capture the textures of their ancient walls and this unique old clock tower. For dinner that night, we treated ourselves to a delicious dinner of homemade pici pasta with truffles, fresh local vegetables and of course, some amazing wines! *** If you're interested in joining us on one of upcoming Art Treks, please let us know.   The early registration deadline of Sept. 23rd  for a $600 on  most trips is quickly approaching, so don't wait! Queen of the Roses, by Melissa A. Torres, 8x10 oil on canvas

Day of the Dead, or Dia de Los  Muertos in Spanish ,   is a  Mexican  holiday which  focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. It begins on October 31 and ends on November 2. Altars  are built which contain the favorite foods and beverages, as well as photos and memorabilia, of the departed.  You will see there are several festivals where the holiday is celebrated. This, as well as many of my other paintings are available on  FineArtAmerica.com  as prints and other merchandise.  Visit my website at  www.melissaatorresart.com . Sunset Afterglow..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

SUNSET AFTERGOW is inspired by Maui and all the beach walks I did there at sunset. The soft and romantic colors are wonderful at this time of evening. How I miss that part of island life. I always fine soft high key colors difficult to portray in my art, so this was a challenge.                                   This image is unframed and measures 8" x 10".                                                                 $150 plus S/H           ...

Freshly Plowed..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I have done this scene before in acrylics on canvas. Who knows, I might do it again in oils. A friend gave me this photo, thanks MJ.. I loved it! The colors, the panorama, the distance, it's a painting waiting to happen! I believe it's a scene near Blanco here in Texas.                                                       This image is unframed.                                                              ...

Day 5, Tuscany Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

View of Pienza ©2017 Niki Gulley • 12" x 9" textured oil painting •  SOLD Day 5, Tuscany Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams After a busy day in Siena, we stayed closer to home, visiting the nearby hill town of Montalcino and sampling their famous Brunello wines. Stopping off along the way to visit an ancient Monastery and soaking in views of the rolling hills, vineyards and olive groves. That afternoon we took it easy and relaxed at the villa. While some painted the beautiful view of Pienza from our villa, the photographers visited more of the nearby hill towns and others chilled out by the pool. That evening we had a Tuscan mama chef prepare an amazing multi-course dinner at the villa while we enjoyed the gorgeous sunset. A rejuvenating day! If you're interested in joining us on one of upcoming Art Treks, please let us know.  Spaces are filling up quickly, so don't wait! Athens and Santorini, Greece - May 8-16, 2015 The ...

Headland At Lowtide..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

HEADLAND AT LOWTIDE  is an imaginary image, but one I have seen many times in my homeland of Australia. The light is so clear there, and the colors are so vibrant.  I am very inspired by color and movement as you all know, and any water scene will always captivate me. I hope you like this one, it was fun to paint. I have no idea of the substrate, it could be UArt paper but I truly don't know. It was one I found in my reserve drawer.                                                 This image is 8" x 10" unframed                                      ...

Day 3, Tuscany Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

"Cypress Treetops" ©2017 Niki Gulley • 7" x 5" textured oil painting Day 3, Tuscany Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams On the third day of our Tuscany Art Trek, several of us attended a cooking class in Montepulciano from a Michelin-rated chef. We made hand-rolled pasta with a flavor-packed tomato sauce, osso buco, cheese soufflés and a delicious creamy tiramisu. After we were finished cooking, we sat down to sample our creations and wash it down with a little red wine. What an amazing experience!  Later that afternoon, we went onto see the formal Italian garden at La Foce. The giant cypress trees are so interesting that I had to paint a quick study of the treetops.  *** If you're interested in joining us on one of upcoming Art Treks, please let us know.   The early registration deadline of Sept. 23rd  for a $600 on  most trips is quickly approaching, so don't wait!
