PACE18 with Bruce Bingham

Part of the fun of being at PACE18
is seeing all the great demos.
My favorite this year was Kevin McPherson.

He is his beginning, middle and end.

He painted this really complex scene from a water color
he had done in Italy.
I really related to the way he mixes his color.  He uses the
same value for as long as he need to and bends the
different colors to a warm or cool bias on his palette.

I was relieved that he doesn't make separate piles
of each color and leave them because
frankly I'm just not that tidy and that technique never seems
to work for me.

Of course he made the whole thing look really easy!

Upcoming:

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
