Bruce Bingham with Robin Cheers

What are friends for?

My painting pal, Robin Cheers, is doing a video for Liledahl Videos.
She asked me along for moral support and I gladly accepted!
Friends make our lives so much more interesting and give us more experiences than
we would ever have on our own.

I met her at the studio earlier this week and found it so interesting I thought I'd blog about it.
The studio is tricked out with the same cameras they use on network TV and movie sets.
Also it's sound proofed and they have 4 cameras running at once.
One on the palette, one on the artwork, and two on Robin.

First, she did a really cool water based sketching technique with graphite
and water pens to help her determine her composition.
You can take it anywhere with you too!

Meet Scott and Trevor the guys who make everything perfect.

Then she started on a white canvas:

and shared her way of simplifying and blocking in.
Also her special way of mixing and applying color.
I was super inspired and know it's going to be a great video.

So if you want to keep your brushwork loose and unique
look for this video when it's released in June.
Well done Robin!

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
