  Blue Morning Glories are done in oils from photos Available  for purchase In cultivation, most are treated as  perennial plants  in frost-free areas and as  annual plants  in colder climates, but some species tolerate winter cold. There are some species which are strictly annual (e.g.  I. nil ),  producing many seeds, and some perennial species (e.g.  I. indica ) which are propagated by cuttings. Some  moonflowers , which flower at night, are also in the morning glory family. Because of their fast growth, twining habit, attractive flowers, and tolerance for poor, dry soils, some morning glories are excellent vines for creating summer  shade  on building walls when trellised, thus keeping the building cooler and reducing heating and cooling costs. Popular varieties in contemporary western cultivation include  ‘Sunspots’ ,  ‘Heavenly Blue’ , the  moonflower , the  cypress vine , and the  cardinal climbe...

  “Symphony in Springtime II" ©2020 Niki Gulley SOLD  • 36" x 36" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas Just Sold through The Good Art Company Gallery!  In this painting, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of our bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush and vibrant wildflowers flowing along the grassy rises and falls of our berms in the Texas Hill Country. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the blooms and their surroundings abstractly plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way. It felt like it stretched for miles. Bright, happy faces sharing their smiles with us and lifting our spirits. Paluxy in Paradise by Sheri Jones 12x9 oil on linen panel I was blessed to spend the day with friends on the Paluxy River recently. The day started off cold so we bundled up.       "Floating Expressions III" ©2020 Niki Gulley 24" x 24" textured mixed media painting on wrap around canvas, framed in a silver floater frame In this painting series, I wanted the focus to be on texture. Usually I paint with a lot of color, but I opted to use a limited palette on these pieces to really concentrate on the peeling bark of the aspen trees. Bordering on the edge of abstraction and the cusp of realism, Floating Expressions is loaded with layers and layers of paint, built up with thin glazes and then palette knife to create extreme dimension. Choosing to come in extremely close on the subject, I played around with various strokes and paint thicknesses to add depth and energy.
