Commission. This painting is of retired MWD Sgt Daisy. Daisy served in Afghanistan as a bomb sniffing dog. She is now retired. She now gets to spend the rest of her days with a friend of mine. I portrayed her on Marla's hardwood floors where she now plays. The "bomb" is the first chew toy Marla bought her. "Golden Moment, White Rock Lake" ©2014 Niki Gulley Textured oil on canvas • 12" x 24" On a peaceful autumn day last fall, I went out with my camera to White Rock Lake and captured this beautiful sunset behind the Dallas skyline. I liked how the pampas grass and various plants in the foreground were back lit by the setting sun and how the water's surface was shimmering from the low light, adding to a sense of mystery and tranquility in that golden moment. Buttercup Contemporary Cow 18" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas I completed this painting in the studio today.  I just made some minor changes that have an impact on this Buttercup...her colors are so warm and rich.  So buttery....I thought that Buttercup was ideal for her name.  Hi lights and low lights and some random splashes of turquoise and coral punch it up.  For the most part I used a flat wide brush, but in the end, used a small filbert to scrub in some color and abstract lines.  Contact  Kay  for more information and photos on Buttercup.  Have an artful day.....KMW

The lake shimmers in the evening glow as sky high above fills with deep blues and before you the soft, moody colors stretch out, long lines beckoning you into the complex diagonal composition. Rich texture models the leaves, branches and tree trunk rimmed in the sunset and shadow. Vivid masses of color form the foliage on the opposite bank, fall at its peak. The long cast shadows draw you into the tranquil landscape and the peaceful, dreamy sunset at White Rock Lake. I Just Want One 20X24 oil, acrylic M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me:  allison@mallisonartist.com This is one from my new series (that I haven't officially titled yet but am just calling it 'Collection' for now) and the only figurative so far.  I painted this background  with an acrylic glaze, then when it's almost dry I wipe off whatever is still wet.  It makes a really interesting 'under painting' that I,m pretty fond of. I then paint away!

What a treat to have Megan Bruce, who usually serves as my hostess and coordinator from the Adult Ed Department, join us to put brush to canvas! We painted fresh pansies today step by step, while the garden outside the classroom windows was buzzing with activity. Over 70,000 pumpkins are on display there, and moms and dads were taking pictures of kids on pumpkins left and right in the perfect sunny weather with mums and blossoms all about.  It was a regular flower mob scene!
