New "Spring's Glory," Texas Hill Country oil painting by Niki Gulley

" Spring’s Glory,"  Texas Hill Country  ©2015 Niki Gulley  36” x 60” textured oil painting on gallery wrap canvas “Spring’s Glory” was inspired by a trip to the Texas Hill Country. The spring conditions were perfect, and the bluebonnets were amazing! While we were near Fredericksburg, we took a scenic drive along the Willow City Look and as we approached the top of a hill about half way around, we were greeted by this gorgeous view of the rolling hills and bluebonnets in full bloom. Then, to top it off the sun was setting in the distance casting its golden glow and backlighting the wildflowers. I had to capture the magical moment, enhancing the kaleidoscope of colors in the sky and along the ground. Arranging clouds, the road and rows of bluebonnets in rhythmic sweeping shapes to create a harmonious landscape that flows with light, texture and color, and suggest a feeling of optimism about what’s to come. "Spring's Glory" along with several of my ne...

Seaside Cottage by Nancy Medina 20X20 Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Videos France, Italy and the US - Flower Painting Workshops My Web Site Follow Me on Facebook This morning I received an email from LinkedIn suggesting I consider a job in architecture. This is about as close as I'll get to being an architect. Seaside Cottage is a painting of Le Vieux Couvent in Frayssinet, France, converted via my imagination to a seaside retreat.  I'm very excited to announce a new workshop in St. Louis, Missouri, set for October 23-25. We'll paint bright flowers and French landscapes in my home town. You are invited to join me for three full days of painting, and students who work in oils, acrylics, and water based oils are welcome. I hope to see you there! Oh My Winter Flowers by artist Pat Meyer

8 x 10 oil on linen panel contact artist to purchase Pat@Meyer.net This beautiful bright flower was a surprise this Spring when it started blooming in the yard.  It spoke to me amongst all the brown earth that surrounded this stunning bloom.  She became the perfect model to show off her brilliant pink bloom.  While trying to balance the painting with a supporting cast of friends the lemons were added to lend their joyous colors and help point you back to the queen of the ball the pink flower.  May the earth provide beautiful things for you to enjoy all year.   To sign up for my newsletter  go to my website at  www.PatMeyer-artist.com Signature Member Artist of Texas, Oil Painters of America, American Impressionistic Society

At Last by Kay Wyne

At Last 24" x 12" Oil on Canvas Needs a frame. This still life painting was inspired by the beautiful violet tulips that were in the studio last week after the reception and exhibit for Lynn Rushton.  A celebration of Lynn's Master's Thesis brought so many of her friends and family together for a wonderful evening.  This floral arrangement was one of several that spoke to me...and so I am dedicating this painting to Lynn finishing her Master's Thesis.....At Last.  Feel free to contact  Kay  for more info on this painting.  Thanks, Kay

One Woman Show Featuring Niki Gulley at the Good Art Company Gallery

"October Rhythms" ©2015 Niki Gulley 36" x 48" textured oil painting on gallery wrap canvas I find being immersed in nature can have such an uplifting effect, and I wanted to share that feeling with you in October Rhythms. I chose pure, intense reds and yellows contrasted against autumn golds and chocolates to create an fall forest that vibrates with color, energy and sound. The repetition in the aspen trunks and foliage patterns, combined with the flickering tones of the breeze rustling the leaves reminded me of a symphony in the forest so I titled this painting October Rhythms. "October Rhythms" along with several of my new palette knife paintings will be featured in my One Woman Show, hosted at the Good Art Company Gallery in Fredericksburg, TX. Jimmy Longacre_subjective realist landscape paintings_ WHEN TO STOP?

This was completed, originally, as a study, and then evolved in the studio. Something I will commonly do in my process, unless of course, I am participating in a competition that asks that paintings be completed entirely on sight. That's a demonstration of a particular painting skill that surely has great value.  However, for me my objective is not a particular technique argued for by "purists".  I'm attracted by the act of interpretation.  Some interpretations are quick as a sandwich, while others are simmered in the crockpot. Spring Fever Pink Tulips - Flower Painting Classes and Workshops by Nancy Medina Art

Spring Fever Pink Tulips by Nancy Medina 14X14 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Videos France, Italy and the US - Flower Painting Workshops My Web Site Follow Me on Facebook Spring Fever Pink Tulips was one of five class demonstrations during my workshop in the Texas Hill Country this weekend. Visiting Fredericksburg, Texas, is always a treat, and we were just on the verge of what may be the best bluebonnet bloom season in quite some time, thanks to the wet winter that is behind us now. Students from Ireland, Michigan, Colorado, and across Texas painted tulips, hydrangeas, sunflowers and French landscapes, fueled by fresh fruit kolaches and cookies made from scratch, courtesy of our talented multi-tasking energizer bunny hostess Jane! I did emphasize to everyone our holiday theme, encouraging everyone to come up with a few bunny jokes, because, everybunny needs somebunny sometime, right? Take a peep at my ...

New Orleans Garden District Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Oak Beauties," New Orleans  ©2015 Niki Gulley 12" x 9" palette knife oil painting On our plein air painting and photography workshop my husband and I taught in New Orleans this fall, we rode the trolley to the Garden District and set out to capture the beautiful architecture so distinctive of the area. I was attracted to this grand pink house, and in particular I loved the huge old oak tree framing it. The dappled light hitting the trunk was so striking that I decided to accentuate that in my painting with a multitude of colors and values while making the background soft to keep the composition from becoming too cluttered. The sheer size and age of the trees in New Orleans is incredible, which I set out to show juxtaposing the massive oak against the smaller two-story homes in the distance. Created with palette knife and a lot of oil paint, this canvas is loaded with texture and uplifting colors so that you feel the joy and energy of hanging out in New ...

Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs Lazy Susan by Kristine Kainer

Chesapeake Blues Acrylic on Handmade MDF (Furniture Grade) Lazy Susan 14-inch Diameter NFS Yesterday, you saw my oysters on the half shell Lazy Susan which I made for my father's Christmas present.  Today, Mom's gift takes center stage. I grew up along the Eastern Seaboard, thanks to my dad's military service.  Though I now reside in Texas, I am often homesick for the delicious fresh shellfish that was in abundance for most of my life. As a sweet reminder of our time near the Chesapeake Bay, I painted this Lazy Susan for my mom.  (Actually, this was originally for Dad--sorry, Dad!--but I struggled painting all those crustaceans and Christmas loomed.  I switched his subject in order to ship in a timely fashion.) Thus, Mom has the crabs (the Lazy Susan crabs, that is). Commissions welcome! New "Golden Tangle" Fall Foliage Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Golden Tangle" ©2015 Niki Gulley 9" x 12" textured oil on canvas I painted this golden oak at White Rock Lake last fall. I loved how the canary yellow leaves glowed from the late afternoon sun as it illuminated the foliage from behind. Being backlit, the trunk went an inky velvet black and all of its gnarly limbs popped against that gilded backdrop, which I accented with flecks of crimson. Created with palette knife and a lot of thick oil paint, this canvas is loaded with texture, uplifting color and energy. Oysters on the Half Shell Lazy Susan by Kristine Kainer

Oysters on the Half Shell Acrylic on MDF (Furniture Grade) Lazy Susan 14-inch diameter Last year I was commissioned by the wife of the CEO of my husband's company about painting a couple of fruit Lazy Susans.  After much research and occasional hair-pulling (these were new waters for me), I completed the project and was smitten with the results.  Well, my parents were smitten as well.  For Christmas, they each got a coastal-themed Lazy Susan.  Above is the one I did for my dad.  These oysters will never spoil!
