Niki Gulley Featured Artist at the Good Art Company Gallery in Fredericksburg, TX

“Tuscan Dreams" ©2016 Niki Gulley 24" x 24" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas Inspired from a wonderful trip to Tuscany, I wanted this piece to be uplifting and full of joy and energy. Set beneath a colorful sky with a few clouds drifting by on a beautiful day in springtime, the poppies and wildflowers are in full bloom. Using broken impressionistic strokes in surprising hues, causes the landscape to dance and flow, and I hope all of your cares drift away while gazing into this cheerful scene. You can paint and photograph these very views if you join us for our  Tuscany Workshop  in 2017. Don’t miss out on an amazing trip! Space is filling up quickly and there are just a few spaces left. See  art treks.org  for details or e-mail  Niki Gulley  for more information. All Dressed Up by Suzy Pal Powell

I am working on getting some western pieces done. This one is called 'All Dressed Up'. I took photos at the neighbors branding and there was a young woman there with her red boots, chaps with extra long fringe and beautiful spurs! I just LOVE all of that. I dont dress like that but I  love to see it.  It is so much my heritage having seen my granddaddy for years working with his horses.  That is where I learned to love it all! It is 22x28 matted and framed.  This is a poured painting with a little brush work on it.

New Textured Lavender Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

SOLD •  “Uplifting Fragrance," Tuscany ©2015 Niki Gulley 24" x 12" textured mixed media painting on wrap around canvas Just sold  through   the Good Art Company Gallery in Fredericksburg, TX.  The lavender fields in Provence are incredible – perfectly manicured rows and rows of an explosion of violet as far as the eye can see. I wanted to try something different in this painting, arranging the purple waves vertically to draw your eye up to the stone farmhouse perched on top of one of the distant hills. Wispy clouds mirror similar patterns as the lavender columns and create a harmony between foreground and background, while perspective lines all converge at the summit, leading you to this joyful, peaceful spot. I hope you can smell the amazing aromas and  feel your spirits lifted while gazing into this scene! For the month of March,  I will be one of the featured artists at the Good Art Company. Several of my new palette...

"Desert Waves" 36x60, Oil on Canvas by Dawn Waters Baker

"Desert Waves" 36x60, Oil on Canvas Working steadily here in my studio for my solo show coming up in September from my residency at Big Bend National Park back in November of 2015. It was an incredible month of beautiful weather. The Rangers had just told me how lucky I was to see such weather in one month. This storm was rolling through. The next day the floor of the desert would be filled with cloud and mist as if the whole world were cloud. I pulled off the side of the road heading back to my cabin to take a shot of the clouds rolling over the Dead Horse Mountains. The air was humid and the wind was picking up. The light was like one thin line across that bumpy horizon. I wondered how long I would need to stand there until it took me in and I was covered in smoke.

Shear Madness

We were coming through Snyder Texas and I shot a photo of this old building through the window. When I saw all the electrical lines and boxes, I had to laugh to myself! It was so funny looking. I sketched it and liked the way the sketch looked so i drew it off on 1/2 sheet of watercolor paper. I used the pouring technique, but wasn't happy with it.  It was so dark, drab and muddy, so I got out my gouache and started painting, to brighten it up.  I like it now. At least it has some color to it.

Polka Dot

This past Friday was our monthly paint day, and I am always trying to come up with something fun and different so I decided on cups.  I painted it, and then I had the students to design their own backgrounds, cups, etc. It was a fun day.  The polka dots are very tedious but fun anyway. I have it listed on Daily Paintworks and they chose it to be the FB pick of the day. That was fun! It is for sale there too. http://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/suzy-pal-powell--4892/artwork This is their work, along with mine. I didn't get one photo, she left before I got them done. I know they will all be really cute when they are finished.  The middle one with the 3 colors of cups, is a new student.  This is her 2nd lesson! She did an amazing job!

Lilies...Floral Pastel...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

LILIES began with a watercolor throw in. Loose and with no pre-conceived notion of my subject at all. After the colors all dried, I found I could work flowers into them. What a surprise..lol! I think FLORALS are possibly the easiest subject for me to go with using this abstract throw in of wet media. I had this photo of lilies from years ago and decided, with a few moderations, to let it guide me through this painting. The substrate is UArt paper mounted onto acid free foamcore. This image is 18" x 12" unframed  $280 Plus S/H Prints also available through Fine Art America: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/lilies-rae-andrews.html?newartwork=true Rae conducts workshops and demonstrations of her techniques in ACRYLICS, PASTELS, OILS, and WATERCOLORS For more information please contact her at: rae4art@aol.com Please visit my Web Site at: www.yessy.com/raeandrews or my Blog Site at: raeandrewsgallery.blogspot.com

New "Sunny Dreams" Palette Knife Sunflower Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Sunny Dreams" ©2016 Niki Gulley 24" x 12" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas Inspired by our travels to Provence, I painted these cheerful sunflowers with extremely thick oil paint and palette knife so that the resulting image leaps off the canvas and is loaded with energy, color and texture. Color Festival, New Contemporary Landscape painting by Sheri Jones

Color Festival 40x30 oil on canvas This large painting was inspired by a cropped plein air painting.  It started off as an 8x10, but worked better as a 5x7.  I studied the 5x7 for a long time and decided to go big. It was a fun and colorful creation. It is available for purchase. Email me for more info. Thanks for viewing Sheri Jones Sheri@sheriart.net http://www.sheriart.net http://www.sheriart.blogspot.com

Go With The Flow by Kay Wyne

Go With The Flow 40" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Abstract Painting (I may need to adjust the color as it is somewhat lighter as I look at the painting and compare it to the photo.   Or, it could  be my computer.) This palette knife painting is drying on my easel in the studio.  I put the title, "Go With The Flow" on it because as I layered the oils and moved the paint on the canvas it was obvious that I need to go with the flow, and let it happen. This is a close-up of the palette knife work....layers of color, leaving knife edges and forming shapes.  Lots of fracturing going on, and some texture.  But the neatest part of the painting is the color.  The colors are beautiful, and they flow very well from one grey to a violet to a magenta to a red to an orange and then the neutrals.  There are some punches of turqoise and blue in there.  I mixed piles and piles of oils on my palette as I made my ...

FIGURE 1 by Linda Popple

12x6 Oil on Panel I've been working on painting the figure.  My first attempt is simply the figure painted straight forward. This is the first painting in this process.  My goal is to abstract the figure with lost edges, which is not as easy as it sounds. I'm looking forward to exploring the back and forth that takes place at the easel as the figure loses some of its definition.  My next painting will be this same composition with the figure abstracted.

New "Kid's Perspective II" Palette Knife Aspen Tree painting by Niki Gulley

"Kid's Perspective II"  ©2016 Niki Gulley 36" x 36" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas In this painting, I wanted you to you to experience the joy of looking up into the treetops – just like you did when you were a kid. Lying on the ground, not a care in the world, you gaze in wonderment as the clouds drift by. Choosing playful colors and thick chunky staccato strokes add to that childlike whimsy and I hope you are transported back to a happy, carefree time and place. Shell Design ..Semi Abstract...Pastel...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

This is another semi abstract design done in pastels over acrylics. I simply love this process. I never know the outcome, and these designs are always a challenge to me. The whole surface is eventually covered in pastels in the form of pastel pencils and the soft variety sticks, after a fluid start with liquid acrylics and water. I chose this elongated format as an added challenge, this gets me away from the 'expected' and I like the surprise . The substrate is a white Richeson Sanded Board , which are fast becoming my favorite substrate for this mixed media work. Original image is 20" x 7.7" (unframed $150 plus S/H Prints of this image and more are also available at:  http://rae-andrews.pixels.com Rae conducts workshops and demonstrations of her techniques in ACRYLICS, PASTELS, OILS, and WATERCOLORS For more information please contact her at: rae4art@aol.com Please visit my Web Site at: www.yessy.com/raeandrews o...
