  “Ruby Path" ©2020 Niki Gulley SOLD • 24" x 12" textured oil painting Just sold through the Good Art Company gallery!  I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of our Indian Paintbrush, bluebonnets and vibrant wildflowers flowing along the grassy mounds in the Texas Hill Country. Making sure to not over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature, Ruby Path is loaded with texture, color and movement. Vertical diagonal rows of ruby jewel tones lead your eye to the foliage in the distance, inviting you to stroll amongst the gorgeous wildflowers.   "Flowing into Spring" ©2021 Niki Gulley 24" x 12" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas, framed in an espresso floater frame The Arboretum in Dallas is such an amazing resource for us that I can't help but take advantage of it. They always have a spectacular display of tulips announcing that spring has arrived and it is time to put away your winter clothing. I chose this spot with the variegated tulips set against the rows of flowers, along with the Degolyer house in the distance in order to give the composition a sense of scale. "Sun's Bounty III" ©2021 Niki Gulley 24" x 48" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas Sun’s Bounty is inspired from the beautiful sunflower fields we visited in Provence, France. The flowers seemed to stretch forever and the color explosion was out of this world! Back in my studio, I worked from a combination of photos, on-site sketchesand memories. Painting the sunflowers full-sized in the foreground helps to bring them to life and hopefully transport you to this happy location. Including surprising pops of vivid reds and purples keeps your eye moving throughout the scene, seeing new things each time you look at it, and adds to the joyful feeling. Jim 10 x8 oil on canvas panel This is a 2 hour painting I did at our drawing group. We meet up at the Shanley House with Lake Granbury Art Association once a week.  Models normally sit for 20 minute sessions,  10 minute breaks for 3 hours.  This was Jim's first time to model for us. It was as if a peacefulness settled on me as I captured this scene. It became a moment of inspiration and joy as I felt like I was one with nature. A painting of grace and beauty, its verticality is offset by diagonal glowing autumn colors. Hidden in the Hollyhocks 20x10 oil on canvas This was inspired from a trip to Pagosa Springs, Colorado. I created it with a palette knife applying the paint in small squares.  I focused on softer edges and colors.
