Azure Dreams oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Azure Dreams” ©2010 Niki Gulley 30” x 40” oil painting When I painted Azure Dreams, I wanted you to feel like you’d just stepped into a fairytale. Loosely based on the castles and gardens we visited in England, I was awestruck by the size, scope and lushness of their gorgeous gardens – something I can’t achieve in my own wilting backyard in Texas thanks to our heat and drought. So with hope and longing, I painted this idyllic lily pond that you can escape to, enjoy the cool spring air and get lost in the beauty of this tranquil place. "Teamwork"

12 x 16 Original oil on canvas www.vonniekohn.com http://vonniekohn-artist.blogspot.com I LOVE horses! I have sketched, painted, and ridden them even from childhood. I watched this team hitched together and performing at a local community festival last year. It takes a few years to patiently train a team to work in perfect sync. I have revisited my experience to share the moment with you. I am offering this as a canvas transfer for $200. The original is available through my website through PayPal. If interested, please contact me...thank you for looking.

Friendship Blossoms - Floral Still Life by Nancy Medina

Friendship Blossoms by Nancy Medina 8X10 Oil on Museum Quality Linen Board Available in My Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog I love colorful, floral vases and pots, and have always wanted to paint them, even the elaborate ones. Friendship Blossoms is based on a photo I took in a local restaurant on an evening my best friend Elizabeth and I had a girl's night out. We had to wait quite a while for a table at this little eatery, which has fountains outside for the kiddos to play in, and live music on weekends. We used our cell phones to take turns snapping silly pictures of one another while we waited in the bar, oblivious to the odd stares we were probably receiving. This little floral bouquet was by the back door and I couldn't resist getting some pictures. There is nothing better than having a special girlfriend in your life you can confide in and who is always there to tell you that you look great even when you absolutely know without a doubt y...

Sunset Oyster Boats - Thaw Malin iii

"Sunset Oyster Boats", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. The other day in the fog I found a small fleet of flat-bottomed pond skiffs around the bend in a cove by the Ospray's nest. It was drippy wet that day, no wind and flocks of mosquitos, not a painting day. Today was much better including a good breeze to keep mosquitos at bay until darkness, when I packed up and had to run! If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US. Subscribe to my "New Paintings" mailing list. Each day that I create a new painting it will be sent to your email box. Other works found at Thaw Malin Art

Enjoying The Breeze - Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Enjoying The Breeze 5x7 inches Canvas Panel Original Oil Painting By George De Chiara I often wonder what the seagulls think about when they are standing on the beach. Is it, "Fish again, yuk..." or "Is that a hot dog floating in the water?" you just can't ever tell for sure. I think Pixar might have got it right in "Finding Nemo" when all the seagulls could say was "Mine!", I really think they think all of the food they see is theirs. Bovine Beauty by Kay Wyne

Bovine Beauty Oil on 11" x 14" canvas I painted this beauty over the weekend. I had alot of fun painting this fellow. He is one of Jerry Miller's bulls down in the hill country. The paint was applied with a wide brush, and then I got out the palette knife and put buttery layers of paint on him. It is hard to tell how long it will take to dry. I had to work off of a photograph that I took about a month ago. I hope to start a still life today. Can't wait to get to the studio! Have an artful day, and thanks for looking at this blog! You can contact me if you are interested in purchasing this piece of art. He will look handsome framed up. Kay@kwyne.com 214-532-0325

Afternoon Break - Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Afternoon Break 5x7 inches on Canvas panel Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara While out collecting reference, I came across a group of brown pelicans sitting on top of some pylons. Most of them where sleeping with their heads resting on their backs. I don't find that a very attractive way to paint them; they look like a ball of feathers. There was this one guy just sitting on his pylon watching the world go by, or maybe he was just waiting for the boats to come back. It's so hard to tell, pelican expressions are subtle at best. Either way, I snapped a few photos of him. I had hoped the sun would come out before he flew off, but it never did. I kind of glad it didn't now because I had a lot fun painting the subtle light in the scene. Reverie - Sunflowers and Lilacs by Nancy Medina

Reverie Sunflowers and Lilacs by Nancy Medina 16X20 Oil on Museum Quality Linen Board Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Art Blog Nancy Medina Web Site A new four foot canvas of flowers bested me in the studio today. The orange daylilies and white daisies were at war with one another, and the yellow flowers had all migrated to one corner when I wasn't looking. There was so much to do I set the whole affair aside and picked up a smaller canvas and did something a bit less serious and more fanciful. Reverie Sunflowers was my respite, it is a painting of two favorite subjects, they call to me over and over again, sunflowers and lilacs. I see them often, I probably paint them too often, but they always seem to welcome me with open arms. I've been having fun today with some of the new features on my art blog . I've added a page for my galleries, my awards, and one for my newsletter, so please sign up so you can get all the exciting art news, with a couple of cute pug pictures s...

Transitional Tones IV oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Transitional Tones III” ©2010 Niki Gulley 12” x 12” oil painting I created these aspen trees with palette knife and extremely thick oil paint to achieve texture and dimension. I love how the bright colors pop and brighten up any room, and how the strokes contain so much movement and energy. The image is painted around the sides of the 1.5 inch deep gallery wrap canvas so that it looks three-dimensional and can be hung as is without a frame for a contemporary look. These chunky aspen paintings look great in pairs or threes. See NikiGulley.com/?page_id=229 for companion paintings or e-mail me at Niki@NikiGulley.com with any questions. .

Max in the Petunias, Pet Portrait by Nancy Medina

Max in the Petunias by Nancy Medina 20X20 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Max is a very busy kitty, and also happens to be my latest pet portrait commission. My Aunt Bitsy pet-sits Max when his family travels on vacation, and she has fallen in love with this charismatic little kitty. I thought of a few clever titles for this painting, Garden Helper, Petunia Pleaser, but Max just has such a perfect name for his personality it felt right to stick with the real thing. Take a peek at the pet portrait in the pot of petunias that inspired this on my Art Blog .

Roses from the Garden by Sheri Jones

Roses from the Garden 7 x 5 oil on canvas The roses are winding down their blooms with the Texas heat bearing down on them. So I took advantage of them while I could. Painting still lifes in the studio is a great alternative to plein air work. Painting from life forces you to work fast, before your elements change. I think the results are spontaneous and fresh. Sand Bar - Thaw Malin iii

"Sand Bar", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. I missed the best part of this view. The catboat with the dark sail which is cruising in to the the dock got stuck on the sand bar, just after I looked up and saw them. I didn't look up again for a few minutes as I stooped to clean my brush and mix some new color. When I next paid attention they were under sail heading toward the dock to my right. One sailor had jumped overboard and pull-pushed the boat off the sand bar and climbed back aboard between my glances... VW Van by Sheri Jones

VW Van by Sheri Jones 8 x 16 oil on canvas Isn't this a blast from the past? We have owned a couple of these vans and when I saw this one I whipped a u-turn and went back to this little snow cone stand and took some photos. Red Petunias and Confessions of the Petal Paparazzi Lady

Petunias in Red by Nancy Medina 6X8 Oil on Museum Quality Linen Board Available in My Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Our new neighbors have a plethora of bright red petunias growing around their mailbox. Yesterday I became Petal Paparazzi Stalker Lady and snapped a multitude of photos of their petunias. I've never met them, and hoped they wouldn't yell at me or report me to the authorities. Even worse, I didn't leave a note on their door or windshield explaining my odd behavior. If suddenly you don't see any new blog posts, you'll know I was apprehended. My family explained the other day they will be scheduling an intervention soon if this whole daily painter thing continues unabated much longer. I explained that all they have to do is remove my caffeine. I sure hope they don't take away my caffeine. I'd better plan ahead and stash some Lipton tea bags somewhere here in the studio. Fishing Derby - Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Fishing Derby 3 inches x 5 inches Oil on canvas panel by George De Chiara Seagulls are constantly looking for food it seems like. No wonder why they are so hungry, all the searching is bound to work up an appetite! I photographed these guys over Memorial Day weekend in Corpus Christi. The beaches were very crowed and the seagulls spent most of there time flying overhead, occasionally diving into the gulf to snag a fish swimming too close the top of the water. They would only land when they needed a break or when they saw some food they could snap up. I remember being a little disappointed since I really wanted to get some good reference of seagulls on the beach for a few paintings I want to do. Looking back over my reference now I think have what I need. I spent part of this evening playing with the colors on my new Web site and I think I've finally found a combination I like. It took a while to get a turn at the computer, since the hubby spent all day in line for the new I Phones and wanted to update his new gadget. The pugs and I have spent most of the evening avoiding him, since his new phone has I Movie and AnnieBee says she is having a bad hair day.

Five O'Clock Shadow - Original Watercolor Painting by George De Chiara

Five O'Clock Shadow 21 3/4 inches x 21 3/4 inches Watercolor on paper by George De Chiara I really enjoy watercolor like this, lots of shadows to fill in with color! Summer Respite, Balboa Park Flower Garden by Nancy Medina

Summer Respite, Balboa Park, by Nancy Medina 6X8 Oil on Museum Quality Linen Board Available in My Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Summer Respite is a new work based on one of my favorite places, Balboa Park in San Diego. This large, beautiful park is free to the public. The museums, live musical performances, old Spanish Architecture, and fountains are enough to keep an artist mesmerized all day long. The best time to visit is right at dusk, when sun throws the golden light on the stucco facades and the fuschia crepe myrtles toss blue shadows. I've been daydreaming about the park lately, it has been way too long since I last visited.

The Inside Track by Kay Wyne

The Inside Track Oil on Canvas 24" x 30" $900 I finished this painting. Normally I paint odd numbers of objects or subject matter in my paintings, but four horses seemed to work for me on this canvas. I did have some horses in the background at one time, but decided to blurr the background completely. Initially I had the starting stalls in the background with roof and sky painted in, but I changed my plans. The horse with the green blinker on the inside track is in the lead. This painting conveys the energy, excitement, and competitiveness of the horse race. This painting is for sale and is hanging at The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas. Thanks for viewing this blog. Please contact me if you are interested in this painting that is fresh off the easel! Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com .

The Pony - Thaw Malin iii

"The Pony", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. It was a chance encounter at a dinner party which somehow put me loose it this pasture. After completing most of this painting, including the well mannered and cooperative pony placement, I ventured off to scout the remainder of the property for future plans. Upon my return a half hour later, as the sun was setting, I started to think something was wrong. There were balled up pieces of paper towel all over the ground around my easel! At first I assumed the pony had licked, chewed and spit out my roll of towels one by one. What he had done was tear open my plastic grocery bag which I use for painting garbage. He had sniffed out a rather old apple core as a snack and no paint had gotten on his face... If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US. ...

Spinning through Time by Niki Gulley

"Spinning through Time" ©2010 Niki Gulley 36" x 60" oil on canvas In "Spinning through Time," I wanted you to escape from the heat of summer and life's day to day responsibilities and enjoy a peaceful lake retreat. I purposely chose cool colors to add to this feeling of tranquility and I liked how the arrangement of the trees framed the lake in almost a circular pattern, suggesting the cyclical flow of nature. Soothing waters and being immersed in natural surroundings can have such a cathartic effect, and I hope you experience that relaxing moment in "Spinning through Time." I'll be exhibiting this painting and several of my other new chunky oil paintings at Evanston's Fountain Square Art Festival this weekend. If you're in the Chicago area, I hope you can stop by the show. For more information, see chicagoevents.com/event.cfm?eid=123 . Or, e-mail me at Niki@NikiGulley.com with any questions. Cucumber Slices - Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Cucumber Slices 5x7 inch Oil on Canvas Panel by George De Chiara A few days ago my wife made salad with dinner and when I walked by where she was cutting up the cucumber this idea popped into my head. Today I thought I would try to paint it. Paintings like this are fun since I can really be expressive with my brushstrokes. I always enjoy it when I can load up my brush with some color and lay it down on the canvas without touching it again. There's something about that that makes me happy and with an arrangement like this I'm afforded that opportunity often. I worked exclusively in palette knife for 2 years in an attempt to loosen up a very tight painting style. I paint mainly with the brush now, but I still love that texture you get with a knife. If you've never tried it, I encourage you to dab a bit of fat paint using your knife at the end of a painting with your brightest highlights. You might just like it!

Feeding Time - Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Feeding Time 3x5 inch Oil on Canvas Panel George De Chiara Another arrangement of my fishing lures. I had such a good time with the last one, I just had to do one more. As I was setting this one up and trying out different arrangements I was thinking, boy wouldn't it be a funny story to tell about how I hooked my own finger while doing this...well...that was a funny thought right up to the time I hooked my own finger. Luckily it wasn't that bad, just barely got the finger tip. I did, however, take that lure out of the set up. I figured if it wasn't going to be nice to me, I wasn't going to paint it. The photograph really shows a lot of the canvas texture, much more then in real life. I'll have to see if I can get better picture of this one when the sun's back out and update the one here.
