"S&P Luau" Still Life painting by Gwen Bell

© 2010 Gwen Bell 6 X 6 oil on canvas This salt and pepper set dates back to the 40's. I imagine they were considered very naughty back then! They probably spent most of their time locked away on a high shelf in some dark cabinet only to be displayed as a joke at Cocktail Parties. Portrait of My Great Niece by Nathalie Kelley

My great niece is so delightful and the moment she sees a camera aimed at her she goes into beauty queen poses. This time she didn't see the camera and this very relaxed and natural image was captured by my brother. I couldn't wait to try this with watercolors. Winter's Calm pastel by Niki Gulley

"Winter's Calm" ©2010 Niki Gulley pastel • 16" x 20" This pastel is inspired by one of our rare snowfalls in Dallas. Growing up in Chicago I always loved how pretty and magical the snow was after it first fell, but I really don't miss shoveling since moving to Texas! So in "Winter's Calm," I combined the best of both worlds, capturing the beautiful white powder dusting across the ground and along the lacy intertwining branches above while knowing that the next day it would all be gone, making the moment even more fleeting and special. If you'd like more information on Winter's Calm, e-mail Niki Gulley . Or to see more of my pastels and oil paintings, visit my website at NikiGulley.com .

Blossom Music Pansies by Nancy Medina

Blossom Music Pansies by Nancy Medina 6X8 Oil on Linen Board My Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Blossom Music is drying on the easel in Flower Mound Studio, as our house is filled with the sound of happy pugs, video games, and the laughter of my 18 year old niece. Robin is visiting for the holidays, much to the delight of the four-footed assistants. Robin will be graduating from high school this year, a testament to how quickly time flies. I still remember a phone call I received while studying in London on July 13, 1992, the day she was born. What a beautiful day it was, even though there wasn't a ray of sunshine in the sky, the clouds were everywhere, and a cold mist was falling on campus. Have a wonderful day, wherever you may be! I hope the sun is shining on you, literally or figuratively, and you are surrounded by loved ones who always bring music into your life.

Celebration! by Texas Contemporary Abstract Painter Filomena Booth

Celebration! 30"x30"x1.5" Acrylic on Canvas Every once in a while I get a request to recreate a painting that has been sold.   I'm always open to commissions and love to try to recapture a particular "feel"  or mood from an earlier piece.  I always tell the prospective buyer that the new painting  will not be exactly the same as the first but that I will try my best to meet their expectations.   I'm pleased that Celebration! turned out to be a very close recreation of the original. I also put together a YouTube video showing more detailed shots of the painting and some room views.  Please click here to see my video. Please visit my website to see my entire portfolio of original abstract paintings.

Daybreak pastel by Niki Gulley

"Daybreak" ©2010 Niki Gulley pastel • 16" x 40" Whenever I can actually wake up by dawn, I am always inspired by the magical light that casts its glow across the horizon and am rewarded by the peacefulness before society starts stirring. In Daybreak, I wanted to capture that magical morning light and the quiet mysterious mood created from the sun's rays peeking through the trees, casting their long dramatic shadows and softening the distant landscape. $20.00 CHAIR by Linda Popple

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord Click HERE to view my blog. What idiot chose "chair" as a challenge on the Some Texas Artists Like to Paint site? ......... Oh, that would be me! What was I thinking? This was not easy, so I guess it definitely was a challenge for me. Despite the fact that it was a struggle and there were two wipe outs, it was really good to be painting again after a fantastic holiday. After the wipe outs I thought about posting this clever joke with a blank canvas. I can leave the blank canvas, but laughter is always welcome! An eccentric philosophy professor gave a one question final exam after a semester dealing with a broad array of topics. The class was already seated and ready to go when the professor picked up his chair, plopped it on his desk and wrote on the board: "Using everything we have learned this semester, prove that this chair does not exist." Fingers flew, erasers erased, notebooks were filled in furious fashion. Some students wrot...

Petal Pilate Sunflowers by Nancy Medina 16X20 Oil on Linen Board My Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog It's a chilly Christmas in Flower Mound Studio, as my new large work, Petal Pilate Sunflowers, dries on the easel. My holiday helpers today, Howie and Annabelle, are wearing matching scarves thanks to their visit to the groomer yesterday. Petals on Parchment Sunflowers by Nancy Medina

Petals on Parchment Sunflowers by Nancy Medina 16X20 Oil on Canvas My Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Petals on Parchment is a revitalized painting, I added brighter yellows and popped out the highlights on the parchment paper yesterday evening here in the studio. The Christmas cookie smell kept drawing me away, and today we wrapped up packages of Russian Teacakes with bright bows in clear cellophane. There is just something about clear cellophane gift baskets that says "yay - this is a great gift!!!" We've never had a holiday that didn't include a trip to World Market to buy their nifty baskets on sale, along with all the trimmings to make up unique baskets for loved ones. My mom got spicy hot olives with jalepenos, assorted hot sauces from around the world, pistachios, walnuts, roasted peanuts, summer sausage, and butter cookies with dried cranberries. The best part about her gift is getting to partake! It's great to have a gen...
