Just Above The Falls - A New Original 12x9 Plein Air Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Just Above The Falls 12 x 9 inches Oil on canvas panel by George De Chiara  Every now and then I go out painting and notice something that I think might make a better painting than what I set out to capture, but for one reason or another I choose not to paint it. Usually, it's just me being stubborn. I set out to paint "X" so that's what I'm going to work on. Still, in the back of my mind while I'm painting I notice that my thoughts often drift back to the other scene. I find myself wondering what a painting of it might look like...Read more on my blog here . To see more of my artwork check out my web site here . Be sure to sign up for my free email newsletter .

Weatherford Hay - A New Original 6x6 Plein Air Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Weatherford Hay 6x6 inches Oil on panel by George De Chiara Click here to bid.  Occasionally over the years, I have had to drop my wife off at work out in Weatherford and always noticed this field with hay bales, which I thought would be a great subject to paint. At some point last year, I decided it was time and went out ready to paint, only to find all the hay bales had been hauled out. Time moves on though... In Progress "Running Free" - Original Abstract Horse Painting by Texas Contemporary Artist Filomena de Andrade Booth

This is a new painting I started yesterday and I'm sure you'll agree that it's a little different from most of my work!  I've been needing to be re-energized lately and found just what I needed this weekend.   I signed up for a workshop taught by my good friend Nancy Medina .  We met in scenic Fredericksburg, TX, ate great food, had fun with new friends and learned from a master!  Nancy is an award winning floral artist.  Her floral paintings are spectacular and it's such a treat to watch her bring each painting to life.  She works exclusively in oils, a medium I haven't touched in many years.  Experimenting with a medium that I'm not accustomed to using,  forced me to "think out of the box" and set my creative juices flowing again.   These are a few shots I took as I started working on this painting.  It's a pretty big canvas - 48"x36".  I love the energy in this one so far.  Tomorrow...

Forgotten Dreams Series: Cave Walls

This is one of an ever expanding series of paintings called "Forgotten Dreams". I was inspired by cave paintings from all over the world. I used lots of texture to lend the work the look and feel of stone. I used charcoal and dry pigments to lend an air of authenticity to the work. I am amazed at the sophistication of our ancient ancestors and the beauty of their work that still survives.

Featured Artist Niki Gulley at the Good Art Company, Nov. 2nd

"Autumn Carnival" ©2012 Niki Gulley 36" x 48" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas Painted with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives so that this canvas is loaded with texture and bursting with color, flickering autumn leaves seem to almost dance in a gentle breeze. I wanted this scene to be filled with movement and energy, so I incorporated a lot of diagonal and curving shapes in the design to suggest that feeling. Contrasting short staccato strokes against blended passages with my palette knives, also increase that sense of motion. I hope you, too, can feel the excitement of walking through the woods on a beautiful fall day, letting your cares slip away and your spirit being invigorated. If you would like to paint with more freedom, color and energy in your work, join me on Nov. 2nd - 4th when I'll be teaching a "Painting Outside the Lines" workshop  sponsored by the Good Art Company in Fredericksburg, TX. TEXAS LANDSCAPE 1 by Linda Popple

12x12 Oil on Cradled Panel To view larger click on painting. To view my blog click HERE. On a beautiful autumn day a couple of weeks ago I drove to Glen Rose to paint.  In my rush to leave I forgot my mineral spirits - remembered just as I was approaching the Glen Rose square.  I was also short on time, so decided to leave my paints in the car and take some photographs.  The Texas landscape can sometimes be barren, but not this time.  Because we have had some good rain this season, the land displayed her color in all its glory.  I am continuing to discover the joys of painting the landscape and Texas has some beautiful and interesting views. In keeping with this little Texas theme and with politics present, here is a quote from Molly Ivens .....  Good thing we've still got politics in Texas -- finest form of free entertainment ever invented. AND, btw, I voted yesterday ..... have you?

Sunflower Girl : New Painting by Beth VanDeventer

"Sunflower Girl" 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" $50 Available This miniature oil painting "Sunflower Girl"  is available for $50, unframed.  I painted this miniature (6 1/2" x 4 1/2") this afternoon, and is still wet!  The painting is based on photos I took of a little girl, maybe 4 years old, and her brother horsing around at an art fair. Autumn Aspen Painting available as Canvas Prints by Niki Gulley

"Emergence" ©2012 Niki Gulley 20" x 30" or 28" x 40" Embellished Canvas Print I wanted this painting to be about the power and energy in nature to invigorate your spirit more so than an exact replica of the forest, so I chose to use warm vivid colors and thick staccato strokes to add to that feeling. I placed the foliage in diagonal sweeping shapes to create a sense of movement, so that you can feel the wind gently rustling the leaves and causing them to dance. Emergence is now available as a stretched canvas print.   I have added thick paint to the prints so they are loaded with texture.  They are UV coated and are stretched with the painting continuing around the edges on 3/4" stretcher bars so that they can be hung as is without a frame, or if you prefer a traditional look, they can be framed also.  Please e-mail me for frame sample and prices or if you would prefer the print on deeper stretcher bars, e-mail me for a quote.  20...

Little Falls - An original 5x7 landscape oil painting by George De Chiara

Little Falls 5x7 inches Oil on panel by George De Chiara Click here to bid.  A few days ago, I went to one of my favorite spots to paint, which is the falls in West Worth.  We had a few inches of rain the day before I went, so I knew the falls would have plenty of water flowing over them. After picking out a place to paint from I set up my easel and got to work.  Try as I might, I just couldn't quite get the painting to the stage I wanted. "Ever Changing View" - Thaw Malin iii

"Ever Changing View", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. When I was much younger, this path was a jeep track you could drive down on to park on the beach. If I venture much past the front of the beach shack now, I would drop 10 feet onto the sand below. Despite the massive erosion, it is still a very memorable view looking out towards Squibnocket… If think you'd like to purchase this piece, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 USD. Christopher Cross Christmas CD with my Art Work in it by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

I am so excited! This has been in the making for over 3 years! I can't believe it is finally done! Three years ago, Christoper Cross' agent called me, and told me that they were looking online for something for his Christmas album, and they found my work and he loved my red pick up! Well....I am not big into names, so I really didn't know who he was, and I called Keri (my daughter) and told her, and she was throwing fits, told me who he was and what he sang, and that I needed to ask her if that was who he was!  So, the next time we talked I ask 'nonchalantly' if he sang 'Sailing' and she said yes he was! He also wanted me to paint the mailbox that is on the back page.  He owns both paintings.  I was so excited I told everybody, then a year later, she writes and says the company who does his albums didn't want to  use it, and I was disappointed ,but know things change, so I just forgot about it, other than being embarrassed that...
