PACE18 with Bruce Bingham

Part of the fun of being at PACE18  is seeing all the great demos. My favorite this year was Kevin McPherson. He is his beginning, middle and end. He painted this really complex scene from a water color he had done in Italy. I really related to the way he mixes his color.  He uses the same value for as long as he need to and bends the different colors to a warm or cool bias on his palette. I was relieved that he doesn't make separate piles of each color and leave them because frankly I'm just not that tidy and that technique never seems to work for me. Of course he made the whole thing look really easy! Upcoming: Paint the Town Marble Falls and PREVIEW THE SHOW  HERE Cuba, Faded Beauty Solo Show at South Street Art Gallery, Easton. PACE18 with Bruce Bingham

PACE18 Too much fun? No such thing. Nobody can accuse us of not having enough fun. left to right: Shelby Keefe, Brenda Boylan, Nancy Tankersley, Moi, and Jeanne Reavis. I had so much more fun than last year when I ended up in the La Jolla hospital with a pinched nerve in my back.  What a drag.  This year I came away with tons of inspiration and some new techniques. YAY! The first morning we were there we found a spot to paint along a road not far from the hotel. It was a little windy as you can see by the flags  on the right below below but nothing like later in the week. I'll break this up into a few more posts so it won't get too long. Upcoming: Paint the Town Marble Falls and PREVIEW THE SHOW  HERE Cuba, Faded Beauty Solo Show at South Street Art Gallery, Easton. MD May 1, 2018- May 27th, 2018 Thanks for following along!

Amaryllis in Bloom, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Amaryllis in Bloom 7x14 oil on canvas I painted this from my father-in-law's garden of his beautiful flowers. He had a green thumb and always loved to garden.  We lost him the very next day, so this painting will always hold a special place in my heart.    http:\\www.sherijonesart.com Sheri@sherijonesart.com http://www.sheriart.blogspot.com Thank you for viewing my art.  Sheri Jones

"Spring's Glory" oil painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

" Spring’s Glory,"  Texas Hill Country  ©2018 Niki Gulley  SOLD •  36” x 60” textured oil painting on gallery wrap canvas Just Sold!  “Spring’s Glory” was inspired by a trip to the Texas Hill Country. The spring conditions were perfect, and the bluebonnets were amazing! While we were near Fredericksburg, we took a scenic drive along the Willow City Look and as we approached the top of a hill about half way around, we were greeted by this gorgeous view of the rolling hills and bluebonnets in full bloom. Then, to top it off the sun was setting in the distance casting its golden glow and backlighting the wildflowers. I had to capture the magical moment, enhancing the kaleidoscope of colors in the sky and along the ground. Arranging clouds, the road and rows of bluebonnets in rhythmic sweeping shapes to create a harmonious landscape that flows with light, texture and color, and suggest a feeling of optimism about what’s to come. New "Over the Hills III" Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Over the Hills III"  ©2018 Niki Gulley 16" x 20" textured oil painting Recently we loaded up the car and headed south to visit the Texas Hill Country to see the wildflowers in bloom. While not as prolific as some years, the thick patches we found did not disappoint. It's so exciting to see a massive carpet of blue across our usually green hills, and I love how the bluebonnets signal that spring has arrived! For our next stop on our Texas adventure, I decided to paint in Austin since the wildflowers were so prolific there. This field was covered with not only the bluebonnets that I love, but also the Indian Paintbrush and Indian Blanket that fills me with energy and joy when I see a field of all of that red! The blossoms formed such rhythmic rows as they iced the rolling hills that I set out to capture that harmony and movement in this piece. Painted with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives to achieve depth and texture, the resulting image c...

Two Peas in a Pod, Melissa A. Torres, 8x10 oil on canvas panel

I painted this from a photo I took from the bush in front of our home. This is the second family to have taken up residence there. These two little Dove eggs have since hatched. The first family was a Cardinal family. It's so nice to hear the chirping when we walk outside. Definitely one of the best parts of Spring! This painting is available for purchase here . Morning's Soft Light, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Morning's Soft Light 11x14 oil on canvas This is inspired from one of my all time favorite painting locations in Benbrook, Texas.  The rising sun draped the clouds with warm colorful light and begged me to paint it.  I used the brush to lay in the colors and shapes and added texture using the palette knife.   To purchase http:\\www.sherijonesart.com Sheri@sherijonesart.com http://www.sheriart.blogspot.com Thank you for viewing my art. Casting Your Cares

6x9 oil on canvas painted by Julie Beth Wileman I primarily paint realism, but occasionally I like to play around with paints, let them dry and play some more until something touches me.  When I started pulling the cool blues and greens over the warm reds, oranges and golds I felt a sense of calming.  Hence the title, Casting Your Cares. This piece is Sold.   More of my work can be found at www.juliewileman.com

New "Over the Hills II" Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Over the Hills II"  ©2018 Niki Gulley 18" x 24" textured oil painting Recently we loaded up the car and headed south to visit the Texas Hill Country to see the wildflowers in bloom. While not as prolific as some years, the thick patches we found did not disappoint. It's so exciting to see a massive carpet of blue across our usually green hills, and I love how the bluebonnets signal that spring has arrived! After delivering new art to my gallery, The Good Art Company, in Fredericksburg we ventured north to the Willow City Loop to take in the breathtaking vistas and plethora of wildflowers that normally fill the landscape there. I love this spot as you ascend hill after hill to arrive at the top with beautiful views of the valley below. Erecting my easel along the roadside, I set out to capture the bluebonnets framing the foreground in front of this spectacular view. The road on the right invites you to leisurely drive through the loop while the sun j...

Golden Morning, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Golden Morning 12x16 oil on canvas The park near Benbrook lake is my inspiration for this sunrise painting.  I drive through the park on my way to work and if I time it right I see the sun come up.  The golden hour where the sun cast bright colors everywhere. This was a joy to paint using the palette knife and all these warm colors.  To purchase http:\\www.sherijonesart.com Sheri@sherijonesart.com http://www.sheriart.blogspot.com Thank you for viewing my art.  Sheri Jones

New "Over the Hills" Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Over the Hills"  ©2018 Niki Gulley 24" x 12" textured oil painting Recently we loaded up the car and headed south to visit the Texas Hill Country to see the wildflowers in bloom. While not as prolific as some years, the thick patches we found did not disappoint. It's so exciting to see a massive carpet of blue across our usually green hills, and I love how the bluebonnets signal that spring has arrived! Our second stop on our Texas adventure was again north of Austin, along this striking hillside. I was drawn to the one lone tree on the horizon and the patterns the bluebonnets formed leading your eye into the distance. Adding pops of color where the rainbow of wildflowers danced in between the blue also keeps your focus moving from foreground to background and back again. I hope you can feel the joy and energy of springtime in Texas! I painted these Texas Bluebonnets and wildflowers with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives to achieve dept...
