"Reclining Thoughts" New Textured Aspen Tree Painting by Niki Gulley

“Reclining Thoughts” ©2013 Niki Gulley 48" x 36” textured oil painting on wrap around canvas In this painting, I wanted you to you to experience the wonderment of looking up into the treetops – just like you did when you were a kid. Lying on the ground, not a care in the world, you gaze in wonderment as the clouds drift by. Choosing playful colors and thick chunky staccato strokes add to that childlike whimsy and I hope you are transported back to a happy, carefree time and place. Jitterbug - An Original 8 x 8 Still Life Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Jitterbug   © 8x8 inches  Oil George De Chiara Click here to bid.  This is one of my favorite lures to fish with. I love the way it skips and jumps along the top of the water enticing the fish below to strike it. And when they do, there's no bigger thrill! The site of a large bass breaking through the water and splashing down on the bait is one I don't think I'll ever get tired of. Painting it was just as much fun! It took a few tries to get the lure to stand up like this and balance on its hooks. The whole time I painted it I had this fear of it falling over and being able to get it back into position. Luckily, this never happened and I was able to fishing the painting without any troubles. www.georgedechiara.com

The Cowgirl by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

This was painted from one of the photos I took back in April, at our neighbor's branding.  This cowgirl is 14 and she was working as hard as the men. roping and flanking the calves. I was impressed with her knowledge! Her little sister was working along side her notching ears. It is a long time family tradition and I was so excited to get to be there and watch and photo.

Winter Grasses by Jill Randall

Winter Grasses by Jill Randall 5”x7” Pastel   The landscape in May is not what one would expect to see in Alaska, especially if winter is still hanging on by two weeks or more.   It has snowed twice in May.   They is beauty in the winter grasses, the faint blush of trees and bushes ready to leaf,   and the green of spruce trees.   The longer daylight hours on a sunny day also liven things up.   www.jillrandallart.blogspot.com

So Many Cows - So Little Time

Individual panels 6 X 8 - overall 16 X 12 Check With Artist for Availability There seems to be concern among my friends for my growing obsession with cows. I still love the horses, mind you, but I have truly acquired a huge appreciation for cows - particularly those that provide us with milk. We own a milk cow - Abbey. I SHOULD say, "Abbey owns us". Our life now revolves around her. "Yes, I can plan that shopping trip with you, but I can't leave before 9:00 am. I have to milk the cow first." "Yes, we can go to Colorado for a week in August. Abbey will have had her calf by then." "No, I cannot get that new easel. I have to buy hay for Abbey." You are getting the drift. And hopefully I am growing stronger bones and a better immune system drinking her fresh milk. Moo. If you are interested in this painting,  click here to send me an email . Pink Roses and Perks of Painting at the Dallas Arboretum by Nancy Medina

Pink on Blue Roses by Nancy Medina 8X10 Oil on Archival Panel Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Follow Me on Facebook Pink on Blue Roses is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio. Painting outdoors at the Dallas Arboretum is one of the perks of my new job as a full time artist. No more soul scorching fluorescent lighting, just pure sunshine and breezes. On weekends, you can hear the sound of classical piano music wafting through the delphiniums and watch the brides and their photographers on their way to the perfect Kodak moment. Painting in the Arboretum gardens is just about perfect, especially if you rent one of the big red wagons at the help desk to haul all your important accoutrements (a picnic basket of fried chicken and iced down peach tea). Even better when the hubby comes along and sets up your EasyL easel and makes a critical ice cream bar run around 2 pm. I love when the children come up and ask question...

Hill Country Field - An Original 8 x 8 Plein Air Landscape Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Hill Country Field   © 8x8 inches  Oil George De Chiara Click here to bid.   This field of wildflowers was bursting with color! It was mostly full of Indian Blankets, but there was also what I think is wild verbena blooming. It had a wonderful purple color to it and is the main reason I wanted to paint this view. I loved the way its slender flowers poked up through the tall grasses and other wildflowers. This was one of those paintings that had to be done from life. The soft purple flowers just refused to be photographed without washing out and losing all of their color. Luckily, there was lots of shady spots to set up in and paint from. A nice relief from the hot midday sun that was pounding down on us. www.georgedechiara.com

Snow in May by Jill Randall

Snow in May by Jill Randall 5"x7" Pastel My husband and I are in Alaska where we spend our summers.   It is a colder season this year with winter hanging on an extra two weeks.   We had a beautiful snowy morning May 18.   However, by afternoon it had melted away.   Finally this last week in May the temperatures are rising with 40 degrees at night and middle 50’s during the day.   The sun and the long daylight (18 hrs) help brighten the area.   We love hearing the Sandhill Cranes as they look for nesting places.   We hear and see a pair of Eagles circling about the spruce trees.   A mother moose and her three yearlings wander through the yard at different times.   Spring is coming to Alaska.

Niki Gulley at 57th Street Art Fair, Chicago, Il - this weekend

"Orchestrating Radiance" ©2013 Niki Gulley Three 48" x 30" canvases to form a 48" x 90" triptych Textured oil painting on wrap around canvases I wanted this large-scale painting to be very uplifting, colorful and full of energy. Opting for warm colors and working with extremely thick paint and palette knives, I chose this lily pond reference from our visit to Monet's Gardens in Giverny, France. The grounds were breathtaking and I could actually see his paintings come to life. I was drawn to the energetic flow and yet calming serenity in this view, and I positioned the shoreline, shadows and reflections in a curving pattern to add to that mood. Dripping willow leaves frame the foreground as water lilies skim the pond's surface. The morning light peeking through the distant foliage added to a sense of mystery and promise that I wanted to capture in paint, and share with you that feeling of hope. To see more of Niki Gulle...

Schumacher Crossing - An Original 10 x 8 Plein Air Landscape Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Schumacher Crossing   © 10x8 inches  Oil George De Chiara Click here to bid. While driving between Kerrville and Hunt, Texas, I ran across this little waterfall just off the roadside. I couldn't believe my luck! I love scenes like this, and this one come complete with a picnic area and plenty of parking. I later learned that this area is named after John Randolph Schumacher who, in the 1920's, built a series of dams across the Guadalupe River to provide security from rushing floodwaters for a river crossing and new road to Hunt. To this day, the dams remain, but an improved highway bridge now crosses the river. www.georgedechiara.com

Garden Party by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Blushing Basketful 6" x 6" oil on linen I hope you enjoyed Memorial Day weekend. It seems inadequate to say "Thank You," but how thankful I am to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for my freedom. God Bless America! My Petite Painting Project - 100 paintings in 100 days is coming right along. I think I am getting close to painting #60! Cottage Rose Garden by Kay Wyne

Cottage Rose Garden Oil on Panel This oil painting is framed in a beautiful gold frame. The paint is applied with a palette knife and brush....so there is variety in the texture. One of my favorite things about this painting is the rooftop, which has layers of oils built up using the palette knife.  The roses in the foreground are also painted with thick paint.   I hope that this colorful landscape painting takes the viewer to a pleasant place.... maybe England...maybe a countryside cottage.   Thanks for viewing....kay@kwyne.com I will be back in the studio today....Kay

Cottage 3

I taught a watercolor workshop recently, where the students were guided into leaving a lot of the white paper showing. This was a demo piece. I used to paint solely in watercolor/mixed water media for over 30 years, while living in my native Australia. It has been many years since I painted in this medium, and I have to say, the bug has bitten me again. It is pure watercolor on arches paper. 14 x 20" unframed. Comments and inquiries are always welcome.

Slippery When Wet

The latest of a stream (excuse the pun ) of watercolors I have been doing, having so much fun getting back into this medium. This on arches CP paper and is 14 x 20" unframed. This scene is one I saw recently when I visited the island of Maui with some artist friends. This is a place I sketched at frequently when I lived on Maui for 12 years.Simply breathtaking.  This is the Iao River. All inquiries are welcome.

Neighborhood Watch ~ Coronado Island Cottage by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

Neighborhood Watch Coronado Island Cottage by Nancy Medina 16X12 Oil on Archival Panel Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site See My Paintings First on Facebook Neighborhood Watch ~ Coronado Island Cottage is based on one of the outdoor scenes and interesting floral dramas of my favorite island just off the coast near San Diego, California. Visiting the island and seeing the rose and flower gardens and arbors is a feast for the artist's soul. Each spring when we visit I get out my Annual Flower Show Map and direct the hubby up and down the winding streets in search of blue ribbon gardens. Upon spotting some delectable rose arbor or delphinium bed, I shriek "STOP!" and the hubby finds a place to park while I leap out of the still rolling car barely able to focus my camera. After several gazillion dozen photos of each scene, I return to the rental car in triumph, only to find the hubby hiding behind a map pretending...

Red Roses Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

"Triple Passion" ©2013 Niki Gulley textured oil painting on wrap around canvas Can be hung horizontally 24" x 48" or vertically 48" x 24" I love the passion and energy in the color red, so I thought it would be fun to play with the still life I had set up of roses and make a painting where red was the dominant color.  In person, seeing these roses at life size, I wanted the viewer to be swept up in the movement and emotion of this piece. Utilizing flowing spirals, weaving back and forth, playful thick and thin paint in bold, loose strokes, ruby petals emerging and disappearing, all meant to tease and excite your senses.
