Blue Dreamers - Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina

Blue Dreamers - Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina SOLD 12X12 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Daily Painters Gallery mailto:nancy@nancymedina.com Nancy Medina Web Site Blue Dreamers is a small study of one of my favorite flowers. The buds are on the pear tree and the iris leaves are greening up in our garden. Of all the flowers that grow in the back yard, I always get the biggest kick out of the hydrangeas. I found two little grocery store plants and put them into the ground a few years ago and it is nothing short of a miracle that they can survive the Texas summer heat.

At The Sale, Oil painting by Texas artist Shirley Quaid

This guy is so typical of buyers and lookers at livestock sales. When I spotted this fellow, I loved his belly hanging over and the suspenders holding up his Carhartt pants. A painting appeared in my mind and I had to take the picture. The background was fun to paint, too. Enjoy. Shirley Quaid website my blog Happy trails, Shirley

Farmers' Market Flower Garden by Nancy Medina

Farmers' Market Flower Garden by Nancy Medina 36X48 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Daily Painters Gallery Artist contact: nancy@nancymedina.com Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog The large painting that has been leaning accusingly against the shelf half-finished all week was finally completed this morning. I'm not quite sure why some paintings become absolute wrestling matches while others just hop on to the canvas as if to say, "well, what were you waiting for?" Farmer's Market Flower Garden will be on display in one of my upcoming shows. It's hard to believe it's less than a week away to my solo show in Fredericksburg at The Good Art Company . Drop by March 5 for Friday night artwalk from 5 to 8 pm - I'd love to meet you! The only sad thing about the trip to Fredericksburg is this will be the first time Annie will not be able to join us. Juggling an art show and a pug at the same time would be a bit of a challenge, even though Annie insists she ...

'Nine Squares Circle 1' contemporary colorful Large Abstract Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Nine Square Circle 1' 30 x 30 x 2 Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010  I didn't take the picture correctly above.  It should be rotated to the right once. Here the painting is hanging in the house. Hanging in my breakfast area. The Painting:   Oh my did I have fun yesterday at this time. I started this new painting.  I am not real good at planning ahead when it comes to art. I use to be, but not any more.  I always wait upon the Spirit of the Lord.  Yesterday I was waiting on the Lord...then it was waiting for the Spirit.  Yeah yeah, one in the same.  But if I paint with out the spirit the piece is lacking in a 'soul' or 'spirit' of its own. www.lauriepace.blogspot.com

"Autumn Crossing"

18 x 24 Oil on canvas- sold This is a scene from the Paluxy River here in Texas last Autumn. The Vaquero, waiting for his companion to cross the strong current downstream, paused long enough to look at his surroundings. The changing colors, the crispness in the air is a good sign that winter is soon coming. Lone Star Sunflowers and Purple Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina

Lone Star Sunflowers and Purple Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina 36X36 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Daily Painters Gallery Artist contact: nancy@nancymedina.com Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Lone Star Sunflowers is a work based on photographs taken last summer on Main Street in Fredericksburg, Texas. I reworked this painting from July 2009 this week and I'm much happier with the warmer yellows. I was inspired to paint Lone Star when I spotted this large clay pot with a large Texas star on the side. It was originally full of pansies, but the stately old pot seemed to call out for some additional occupants. What says Texas summer better than giant yellow sunflowers?

Plein Air Painting Workshop

"Afternoon Impressions" by Niki Gulley 14" x 11" oil painting I am so anxious for spring to be here, that I just had to get out of the studio yesterday and paint outdoors. Pretending that winter is actually over, it turned out to be a lovely afternoon for a few hours and I decided to set up at one of my favorite locations in Dallas, Turtle Creek. While right now it's still too early for the azaleas to be in bloom, I really love the peacefulness of the trickling water sounds from the creek, the intertwining branches in the tree limbs above, and the dappled shadows created from the sunlight peeking though them. I only had a short time so I had to capture the scene and light quickly! If you'd also like to paint this beautiful part of Dallas, join me March 27th when I teach my next workshop, "Conquering Cabin Fever: Expand your painting into a whole new world outside the studio," let me know. Orange Crush Tulips by Nancy Medina

Orange Crush Tulips by Nancy Medina 16X12 Oil on Linen Board Daily Painters Gallery Artist contact: nancy@nancymedina.com Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Orange Crush Tulips is a continuation of my fling with small paintings this week, while the large one leans accusingly against a wall nearby, almost finished. I am not a master tulip painter, just a practitioner, so I've left the bigger image under here if you'd like to click and see my tulip travails a bit more up close and personal. These tulips are some of the brightest that bloomed last March at the Dallas Arboretum. Why is it the most beautiful flowers have such short seasons?

Off Season- Thaw Malin iii

"Off Season" , this is a Small painting, 6"x 8", oil on canvas panel. Another moist day painting in the van parked on the edge of Collin's Beach. To my right, maintaining their formation even as I paralleled parked 4 feet next to them was a lute of mallard. After an hour of painting, the radio shut off. I found I had left the ignition on and forgot the headlights were also on. Drat... I leaped out of the car and approached a nearby fisherman bailing out his scallop boat and asked for a jump. As much as I hated doing it, the last half of the painting I had to do with the motor running to recharge the battery... If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US. ...

Fly Away Dragon Fly by Kay Wyne

Fly Away Dragon Fly 48" x 48" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas This painting has gone through many changes....it is a very large canvas....four feet by four feet. It takes alot of paint to cover it. At one point (several months ago) I thought it was finshed, and was ready to hang. After viewing it for months, I decided that it wasn't finished, and added the dragon fly just this week. There are layers of color, layers of lines, and layers of shapes in this painting. I used a palette knife, wide brush strokes and a oil pastel stick. Thanks for viewing this blog!!! If you are interested in this painting, please contact me. It is going to be entered in a art exhibit this next month. Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com

Tuscany Painting Workshop with Niki Gulley

"Under the Tuscan Sun" ©2010 Niki Gulley 24" x 36" pastel After my husband, Scott Williams, and I finished teaching our painting/photography workshop in Venice last May, we headed south to my next favorite part of Italy, Tuscany. I thoroughly enjoy the beauty of the rolling hills and the peacefulness (especially when compared to Venice) in this region. On this night, we lucked out with a gorgeous sunset, so we pulled over to capture the exploding colors in the sky behind this typical Tuscan stone farmhouse. When I finished the painting, I thought it needed a little more warmth, so I turned a light on in the villa and that provided the life I was looking for! If you'd like to join us in picturesque Tuscany this September for our next Painting & Photography Workshop, e-mail me at Niki@NikiGulley.com , Or visit my website at nikigulley.com/ng2/?page_id=13 .

Koi Pond by Kay Wyne

Koi Pond 24" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas This is my first koi painting...I layered and layered the paint on, and had the gold/orange koi way too light. I was happy with the colors in the white/gray koi, but not the golden ones. I enjoyed the first day on this painting, and struggled with the days following. I know the water in the koi pond needs to be greener, but I don't like painting green very well, so I just went with what I wanted on the water. I hope to get some better reference photographs when the sun comes out and it warms up in Dallas. More koi paintings in the future. Today I will hit the studio with some new blank canvas....hoping that my brushes are kind to me. Have a good Monday! Thanks for viewing this blog!

Up Tight - Thaw Malin iii

"Up Tight" , this is a Small painting, 6"x 8", oil on canvas panel. It took me a while to find my subject this afternoon. When I stopped painting before Christmas, all the marsh grasses were still standing up straight and tall. Their coloring had maintained its vibrancy. Now, 3 or more snowfalls later, the grasses are flattened and their color is turning gray. But the shrubbery has started to plump out its buds and a subtle color nuance is coming forth. I was cold at the end of my session. Yet, the feelings of winter are no longer strong and the optimism of spring floats easily on the breeze... Koi at Dallas Arboretum by Kay Wyne

Arboretum Koi Oil on 18" x 18" Gallery Wrap Canvas This painting is probably going to be at the Arboretum Garden Gallery. It was my second koi painting, and I was very nervous about the green. Since I tend to "over-paint" on green, I was very careful not to get green paint on the fish. The water at the Koi Pond in the Arboretum was very green, even though my eye wanted to paint blue. Thanks for viewing this blog!

Kristine Kainer: Strawberry

Oil on canvas mounted to panel, 6x6-- Contact me for purchase info. This plump, juicy strawberry was originally covered in decadent dark chocolate. "Vendimia"

Grapes-a symbol of life, immortality, harvest, a time of joy. The palomino grape is used for making "fino" and "amontillado" (sherry wine). It is not just a white grape, but goes through many color changes as it ripens on the vine. Vendimia is another way of saying "white grape harvest"...While on a tour through a vineyard, I spied this beautiful cluster of grapes, with the sun peeking through the leaves. I wanted to share the moment with you.
