Not Working - Thaw Malin iii

"Not Working", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. It was a rainy evening in the fishing port of Menemsha. I sat in my car and worked on this with no interruptions. All the fleet seemed to be in and the crew were all at home, waiting for a better day. This pile driver has been in the vicinity for a few weeks. It has been tempting me for a while... If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US. Subscribe to my "New Paintings" mailing list. Each day that I create a new painting it will be sent to your email box. Other works found at Thaw Malin Art

Farm to Market Girls by Sheri Jones

Farm to Market Girls by Sheri Jones 10 x 8 oil on canvas This was painted today during the Quick Draw on the Waxahachie Court House Lawn. The street was lined with farmers and vendors selling their wares. These two ladies were bouncy around like jelly beans. As soon as they sat they stood. They walked around and moved the chairs several times. It was so funny chasing them with my paint brush. So this really is my impression and completed in less than 90 minutes! Sold at the auction following the quick draw. We have a week to paint our impression of the town and there will be a show and sale June 5 and June 6 -10 - 5 at Chautauqua Auditorium in the park. 309 University by Sheri Jones

309 University by Sheri Jones 12 x 9 oil on canvas I painted this today in the Waxahachie Paint out. Today was the kick off and turned into a great day. The temperatures rose to the mid 90's, but as long as I found as shade tree to paint under I was OK. There are lots of gingerbread houses and shade trees in this lovely North Texas town. The paint out is in conjunction with the Gingerbread tour of Homes. This is one of the featured homes. Available Sheri@sheriart.net sheriart.net sheriart.blogspot.com

Blue Blossoms Iris by Nancy Medina

Blue Blossoms Iris by Nancy Medina SOLD 8X10 Oil on Canvas Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog My model for Blue Blossoms Iris was great. In exchange for some Miracle Grow and a lovely box in which to sink her toes, she stood still for hours! You can see a picture of her on my art blog today. My irises are fading while my canna lilies are just beginning to bloom in the back yard garden. The geraniums are starting to flourish in the heat and the last daylily has bid my garden adieu. I love the changing seasons of my back yard garden. It is small, but it is a cherished sanctuary.

S. Hodges: Play Ball, 30x40x2

I totally love dogs and their consistent excitement about every little thing. This golden retreiver, like most, LOVES to chase her tennis ball... every time is like the first time. I hope my painting captures a tiny bit of that joy. I guess painting dogs, as subject matter goes, may not be considered 'high brow art', but I believe the human species would be alot happier if we approached our lives like dogs approach theirs. I will likely paint more dogs. This painting is gallery wrapped linen, finished edges, so no need to frame. If you wish to purchase ($950.), please contact me or use the secure PayPal button below. Please visit my blog to see more paintings. Thanks for looking!

"Prickly Pear" by Gwen Bell

© 2010 Gwen Bell 6 X 6 oil on canvas Sold Here in Texas Prickly Pear grows like a weed. I have always taken it for granted. This one was not particularly prickly. While painting this and upon close observation I noticed for the first time just how exotic and unique this plant is. Exotic or Alien ? It really does look it comes from another planet! Each bud bursts into a big yellow flower and after that, the juicy purple/red fruit appears. If you've ever eaten Prickly Pear Preserves you know just how delicious it is...very much like Strawberry. The pulp of the leaf also tastes great fried and served with eggs or as a side dish. To see more of my work, please visit my blog or online portfolio.

May Moon - Thaw Malin iii

"May Moon", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. This view always makes me feel as if I'm at the top of the island. Dramatic light makes it feel more so. As the daylight faded to moonlight, I was finishing up and four different "invisibilities" of Whip-poor-wills, in as many directions began to serenade me. Climbing back down from the ridge top I became aware of even more calling off in the distance. Besides their call being so distinctive, they are themselves, not quite like any other birds out there... If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US. Subscribe to my "New Paintings" mailing list. Each day that I create a new painting it will be sent to your email box. Other works found at Thaw Malin Art

The Parlor by Sheri Jones

The Parlor by Sheri Jones 30 x 40 oil on gallery wrapped canvas This painting was inspired by a trip to a local ranch. There were around 20 outdoor painters who met here to paint the landscape. I created several paintings while there, but the interior of this ranch house was just as inspiring. Everything in this home was placed and grouped with an artistic eye. This room over looked the patio, pool, and distance views. I loved the dramatic light the sun created on the floor. Available Sheri@sheriart.net sheriart.net sheriart.blogspot.com

Summer Song Wildflowers by Nancy Medina

Summer Song Wildflowers by Nancy Medina 12X16 Oil on Linen Board Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog I grew up on an organic farm in East Texas, decades before organic grocery stores populated the yuppy neighborhoods of the Metroplex. This painting is of the front five acres from our farm. In the hot summer months, Indian Paintbrush would fill the field with color. Straight back behind those trees was the little house where I grew up. We never wore shoes in the summer, and spent most of the days riding our bikes and exploring the woods out in this undeveloped area of Texas. Times have changed so much now, it makes me sad to think this land will not be our family farm someday. For now, my mother has a small garden of tomatoes and peppers outside her door, and my Aunt helps keep them watered and tended under mom's careful supervision. It's like heaven to visit.

Under the Morning Glories by Nancy Medina

Under the Morning Glories by Nancy Medina 16X20 Oil on Canvas Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Under the Morning Glories is a new painting with a bit of everything from my back yard garden, but all tamed and tidied and arranged in pots by the artist. My morning glories are finally sprouting, their tiny heart shaped leaves are showing, and the flowers will come later if I remember to water them often enough.

Heartsong Poppies by Nancy Medina

Heartsong Poppies by Nancy Medina 8X10 Oil on Canvas Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Sometimes paintings seem to hop onto the canvas, as if they were impatiently waiting for me to load the right colors on the brush so they could get on with being. I haven't painted a poppy still life in a while, but have been so inspired by the reds and oranges in my back yard garden the time seemed right! The spring poppies at the Dallas Arboretum were amazing this year, thanks to the chilly winter. I just wished the poppies bloomed all summer in Texas. Something about that 100 degree heat doesn't agree with them. For photos of some of the red, red poppies of the Arboretum, visit my art blog today.
