Tulips by Sheri Jones

Tulips by Sheri Jones 8 x 10 I attempted to create a painting similar to this a year ago. The painting didn't work out and should have been a wiper. I was working from a set up in the studio and took some photos for future reference. The light was appealing in the photo I thought I would give it another try. I like this one much better. This painting is available for purchase.$100.00 Sheri@sheriart.net Sheriart.blogspot.com sheriart.net The "win a free painting" deadline is over and I am about to have the drawing...and the winner is Mimi!! Congratulations and thanks to everyone for taking the time to make a comment.

Painted Blossom Sunflowers and Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina

Painted Blossoms by Nancy Medina 16X20 Oil on Linen Board My Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Painted Blossoms is a new painting in the studio, as I rushed to paint my red sunflowers before they faded. I deliberately broke some art rules with this painting by celebrating direct complements, and placing the three primaries, red, yellow and blue together. I just couldn't help myself. I love bright primary colors! All day today was Sunday. The weekend is not over yet, so I'm going to enjoy my studio and my pugs for a few more hours before it is time to prepare for work again. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend, even if there is just a little bit of it left. Visit my blog to see the flowers that inspired Painted Blossoms.

New Water Lilies Oil Painting & Canvas Prints by Niki Gulley

"Transcending Radiance" ©2011 Niki Gulley Three 48" x 30" canvases to form a 48" x 90" triptych oil painting I decided it would be a fun challenge to create an extremely large painting this winter, and I wanted the final piece to be very uplifting, colorful and full of energy. Opting for warm colors and working with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives, I chose this water scene for its energetic flow and yet calming serenity at the same time, and positioned the water lilies and my paint strokes in a circular pattern to enliven that mood. If you'd like to see this water lilies painting in person, stop by my booth at "Art in the Square" in Frisco, Texas this weekend (March 5-6). See friscosquare.com/AITS for more details. And, I've just released a limited edition stretched canvas print of "Transcending Radiance" in two sizes: 18" x 30" for $295 26" x 40" for $595 With only 100 signed and numbered prin...

Rose and Handkerchief

This painting is part of my Studio Sale The background has a pattern that I painted and then scraped off leaving a colored ghost of the original. From there I glazed multiple layers of green to subdue  and unify the pattern. The rose and handkerchief are painted on top of the background. I try to set up still life studies that are not the typical compositions. Oil on gesso board 10" x 8" $50.00 plus shipping Contact me if you would like to buy this painting. This painting is part of my Studio Sale I picked these two flowers from my garden and set them up with the sun behind them to get the light shining through the petals. Remembrance in Red Sunflowers and Lilies by Nancy Medina

Remembrance in Red Sunflowers and Lilies by Nancy Medina 16X20 Oil on Linen Board My Daily Painters Gallery Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Remembrance in Red is a new work in Flower Mound Studio, and a new approach for me to a favorite subject. I've never painted red sunflowers before, at least not intentionally, and found these beauties at the grocery store this evening. My list included chicken, advil, fruit and veggies. My list did not include flowers. But how could I have walked past these? Could you? I named this new painting in honor of my muse, my grandmother. Her talent was boundless, and her encouragement and love for me was much more than I deserved. She was a master with the needle, and her embroidery and needlepoint fills my home and my studio. Sometimes I lay my fingers on the surface of her works, imagining and remembering the hours I watched her pull a needle through fabric. I miss her every single day. Take a peek at my art blog to see the red flower bo...

"Hill Country Vista" by Kyle Wood

"Hill Country Vista" - 16" x 20" Oil on Canvas This painting reminds me of all the beautiful rolling hills and winding roads that seem to go on forever and ever through The Texas Hill Country. There is so many neat places, towns to visit in this region of Texas. It is especially beautiful when the Bluebonnets and other wildflowers, like Indian Paintbrushes, Prickly Poppies, and Cactus are blooming. I really enjoy painting landscapes with the countrysides covered in wildflowers. Trips that I have taken through the Texas Hill Country have served as a great inspiration and resource for many of my paintings, whether it is spring day filled with the aroma of wildflowers or a crisp, cool autumn day soaking in the breathtaking colors in the trees. Fresh Picked Lemon Drops - Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Fresh Picked Lemon Drops 5x7 inches Oil on Canvas Panel by George De Chiara Click here to bid. We've had this tree for a for years now and it's never really produced any fruit. The few little lemons it did create never ripened and were always very small. Last spring, I pruned the tree down a bit and made sure to fertilize it well over the summer. I also moved it to a spot that got more sun. Well, all my work seems to have paid off now as the tree is finally producing fruit! It still takes them a long time to ripen; in fact, I picked these today after the tree spent the winter inside keeping warm with these already growing on the branch. I'm hopeful I'll continue to get fruit from this tree since I really enjoy being able to include the leaves and branches in my paintings. Quiet Talk, Angel Palette Knife Oil Painting by Judy Mackey

"Quiet Talk" 10" x  10", Oil on Board I was looking at my recent inventory of paintings and was thinking,  "I sure have painted a few angel paintings lately".  I have been posting them on Facebook and it has been a pleasant surprise to receive comments and thumbs up on the paintings.  I think Facebook has it's place in seeing what is getting people's attention and what hasn't.   Yesterday I met Isabelle Gautier , a Georgia Artist who blogs on the Daily Painters of Georgia site.  We'd only "met" virtually through emails so it was nice to put a face to a name.  We visited a few Galleries and then had lunch at a French restaurant.  Isabelle is from the Normandy area of France so it was nice going to a French restaurant, ordering wine for lunch.  We talked about our art, ideas on galleries, what venues work for selling art, etc.  It was nice brainstorming and making a new friend. "Sienna Passageway" ©2011 Niki Gulley pastel • 10" x 8" From our last Plein Air Painting & Photography workshop in Tuscany. Sienna is such an interesting town, with the narrow cobble streets forming a labyrinth of passageways, the energy of the people in the central square, the ancient stone architecture and unusual adornments, and the picturesque views from the rambling hillsides. We just love it! From our last Tuscany workshop, one of my students painting with pastels. Stop then Go

A friend I know in real life posted on Facebook that she was going to start painting again after a long hiatus. Glass had been her medium of choice for years and she was experiencing some trepidation about returning to painting. Most responses indicated not to worry...everything you do is great. Personally, I wouldn't find that very helpful. If you jump into it waving your paintbrush around like Harry Potter with his wand expecting some magical connection between your brain and brush, you're just going to end up turning yourself into a toad and wondering how things went so terribly wrong. Clear the cobwebs first and don't get disappointed if the first few forays aren't quite perfect. I went through this firsthand. When I first started painting again after nearly 7 years of not painting, I was somewhat terrified. Questions plagued me. Can I still do this? What medium should I use? How big? How small? What style? What subject? What if I fail? That was the real fear…what i...
