Today's painting, entitled "THE PUMPHOUSE" is an 11"x14",  studio painting from a plein air study, oil on canvas panel, by Texas modern impressionist Jimmy Longacre.  This was a careful observation of the variety of greens in our Texas landscape, seen in sunlight, shade, and foreground to distance.   For more of my paintings and information, please visit: Jimmy Longacre's website         My blog: Paintbox and Easel        My CFAI Gallery/Store

Thrice Bright Sunflowers and a New Video by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Thrice Bright Sunflowers by Nancy Medina 11X14 Oil on Linen Board Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site My Sunflower Video Thrice Bright is the newest sunflower painting in Flower Mound Studio. Even though the pugs are dozing and the house is quiet, I'm having a little party in the studio - I'm excited to announce my first sunflower video! The hubby is working on the full length DVD video for me, which is fortunate, considering the only thing I know how to do on an IMac is to overfill the memory with photographs of flowers. I detected a bit of shock and awe when he discovered last week I had filled up the entire Mac hard drive in less than 12 months. But that's a problem for another day, since today we're celebrating! Take a peek at my new video and let me know what you think! Click Here to See My New Sunflower Video

A Day At El Tesoro - An Original 6x8 Plein Air Landscape Oil Painting by George De Chiara

A Day At El Tesoro 6x8 inches Oil on Canvas Panel by George De Chiara Click here to bid.  A few weeks ago, I went to Camp El Tesoro to paint with some friends for the day. We had a wonderful time painting along the river and enjoying the mild spring weather. The water is crystal clear at this spot in the river and I was able to watch the fish swimming as I painted. Most of the rocks that make up the falls seem to be sand stone or lime stone, which reflect some really amazing colors in the river. I had a great time trying to capture them.  This is the first of two paintings I did this day. You can see the other painting  here . Morning Aspens

This painting was inspired by one of my trips to New Mexico. It is 30x40 on a thin canvas ready for framing.

"Verdigris"

It was my intention to try to capture the colors of copper as it weathers and takes on its "verdigris" patina and render it into an abstract diptych. This work is made up of (2) 30x30 canvasses, making the entire piece 30x60.

Season Finale White Roses by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Season Finale White Roses  by Nancy Medina 11X14 Oil on Linen Board Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops My Web Site Season Finale White Roses is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio, as I prep a 60X48 canvas for a new large container garden for my favorite gallery in Coronado, CA. I finished work on my first flower painting video today, Sunflower Daisy Divas, and now I have to figure out how to download, share, market, give away, use as promo? All those business side of the brain thoughts slow me down a bit from time to time, the best solution is to pick up the brushes and get lost in front of a blank canvas. Stay tuned, I'll definitely have a sunflower painting video to share with you soon! In the meantime, I had to pay tribute to these white roses I found at the grocery store. They are as beautiful as any of the expensive $3 a stem lovelies I buy from Central Market *sound of harps* - and they were in the bargain bucket at Kroger! Tonight t...

Sounds of Paris by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Sounds of Paris" by Sandra Reeves Cutrer. This small oil painting was painted from one of many photographs I took while in Paris, France a couple of years ago. What an awesome, fun, entertaining, art filled, historical city of beauty, awesome smells, various talents, and friendly people! I love Paris. This painting was done to show the spontaneity of the French people. What fun! Thanks for reading my blog and looking at my work. Step by Step Sunflowers and Daisies and My First Painting Video by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

Sunflower Daisy Divas by Nancy Medina 18X18 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Sunflower Daisy Divas was my first attempt at a painting demonstration on video today, courtesy of cameraman hubby and my four studio pugs who provided background snoring and snuffling sound effects. Hubby is working on the final movie edit, while all four pugs wonder anxiously who will end up on the cutting room floor, since I did insist that each of them be introduced and their specific studio roles and tasks explained. While we wait with bated breath to see what might be the first flower painting demo with a pug in it ever before produced on the Pug Planet, I've shared a little step by step of the sunflower demo we filmed today on my art blog . Stay tuned to the bloggy for more on this developing news item, but to see sunflowers painted in the flesh, join me for my Summer Saturday Sunflower workshop on June 23! Read ...

Waiting to Hear

I did this several years ago. I saw it driving down the street in Brownfield, TX.  It grabbed me and I just had to paint it! Thank you to all the service men and women who have helped  protect our country  and allow us the freedoms that we have. I am married to a wonderful veteran myself.

Royal Blue Hydrangeas by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Royal Blue Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina 16X20 Oil on Linen Board Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Royal Blue Hydrangeas is a new painting in Flower Mound Studio, and another painting starring my new blue vase. I admit I'm infatuated with my new blue vase. I've painted Sunflowers, then white roses, and now blue hydrangeas in it in the last 3 days. I think of the three, I like the blue hydrangeas the most. I first saw this setup during my Fredericksburg, Texas workshop a few weeks ago. Thanks so much to Linda for bringing this vase with her, and how lucky for me to find one just like it on Ebay a few weeks later! The studio models looking a little blue....

Mother's Yellow Roses by Kathy Baker Mackey

6 x 6 pallet knife oil The above painting was painted quickly and still is a work in progress. My mom remains in the hospital and a friend brought her yellow roses. She enjoyed them so very  much. Once they faded away, she kept talking of them. So, I painted her a small painting to continue enjoying her roses. Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us....Psalm 90:17

Niki Gulley at the 57th Street Art Fair in Chicago, IL this weekend

"Sun Drenched IV" ©2012 Niki Gulley SOLD • 36" x 48" textured painting on wrap around canvas Sun Drenched IV was inspired by our trip to Provence, France last summer. Our timing was perfect and the sunflowers and lavender were in full bloom. While we came across many fields of lavender, we had to search a little harder for sunflowers. Of course that meant sampling more of the local cuisine and wines for much needed fuel as we looked! (My husband likes to say we have to suffer four our art.) When we eventually came across these sunflowers, I knew immediately they would make a perfect painting. Their bright, smiling faces as big as dinner plates, the sun dappled path leading you deep into the golden field to the quaint stone farmhouse in the distance, and a beautiful summer day with a few peaceful clouds drifting by made for the ideal subject. The resulting painting is so full of color and texture, and my hope is that when you gaze into it, this piece...
