Birmium Cat Pastel Portrait by Caroline Ratliff

Birmium Cat 16 x 20 Pastel and Gold Acrylic This painting was a donation in an auction to raise money for teacher scholarships. The cat belongs to a friend. It is a mixture of Siamese and Burmese. I have just a little more work to do on the rug. I am mainly a landscape artist but I enjoy doing animals. Lane's Garden by Sheri Jones

Lane's Garden by Sheri Jones 16x20 oil on canvas I painted this today during The Hood and Somervell County Garden Art Show in Granbury at the Plaza. We have had a lot of traffic for the show. This was also in conjunction with The Wine Walk . This is an event that is a lot of fun. There were bands, wine sample, food samples, vendors and lots of people. The Art Show has been a year long effort by artist and photographers. We painted in local gardens since last April and showcased our results here. I painted a small study from Lane's Garden last year and this painting was created from that. This painting is available for purchase. $250.00 Email if interested Sheri@sheriart.net sheriart.net sheriart.blogspot.com

When We Grow Up ... ?

6x8" oil on archival panel This little brother and sister seem to be standing here wondering .... "When We Grow Up .... " ...will the beaches still be this clean? Will the water still be this clear? Will the sky still be this beautiful? Can you promise us that? Deep Forest by Kirk Witmer

"Deep Forest" 6x8" 0 Oil on archival panel A recent museum trip to see an exhibit of the Hudson River School of artists inspired this piece. Study for landscape

This is a study for an upcoming landscape. 6x8" oil on archival panel I'm planning a landscape that will be 18x24" and these two ladies will be the focal point of that work. I intend for the landscape to be the first in a series of works that have been inspired by the 1979 movie "Tess", which had some really compelling scenery in it. What Lies Ahead?

6x8" - Oil on Archival canvas panel This was done from a black and white photo, so those were the only two colors I used, black and white. I believe the photo was taken back during the Great Depression of the 1930's. I'd guess the man here would probably be thinking about how he's going to find some work. Maybe this image isn't as untimely as we might think. Visit Kirk Witmer Fine Art Email the artist at: khwitmer@juno.com Click here to see more comments about this work from artists world-wide. WET STREETS by Linda Popple

12x12 Oil on Ampersand Cradled Gessobord Click HERE to view my blog. This is painted from a photograph found in Behind the Scenes hosted by Celeste Bergin. Each month there are three photographs posted and the artist can choose which to paint. There are always beautiful photos at this site, but this is the first time I've painted this challenge. I painted on a larger support, which I am learning to like. I can play with the paint more and I find that a real joy. $200.00 free shipping in US

Time Passages oil painting of White Rock Lake by Niki Gulley

“Time Passages” ©2011 Niki Gulley 12” x 24” textured oil on wrap around canvas Near to sunset at White Rock Lake. Sparkling sunlight peeks through the trees in the late afternoon. Two paths present themselves to you: one is broad – straight forward, comfortable, quick, drawing you into the lowly darks; another path curves and winds, less known, slower, meandering, toward the autumn brightness. Such is life. Which path is yours? It is a delightful dilemma, a problem you will solve by making this one of a kind original oil painting your own. Monet's Passion oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Monet’s Passion” ©2011 Niki Gulley 12” x 24” textured oil on wrap around canvas Early morning light washes over Monet’s lily pond in his beloved garden at Giverny, France. Quiet, tranquil colors rim the pond, reflected in the glassy surface, waters casting back sky and foliage in a radiance of hues. Iris leaves front the water pond, lilies break its surface, willows brush the water’s edge – everything just as Monet would have seen, now in a fresh, contemporary new work of art. This new textured interpretation of water lilies and many other contemporary oils by Niki Gulley will be on display at Cottonwood Art Festival May 7th and 8th in Richardson, TX. Color Study-9, Leighann Foster

Color Study-9, Leighann Foster Buy a work of ART for a unique gift . This is a color study. I used a ten color, color wheel and chose one color and its opposite. I made one of these colors the dominant color. Then I chose two colors two colors away on either side of one of the original colors and used them the least. I didn’t focus too much on value but mostly on thickness of paint, placement of the colors and texture. Spring Blooms - Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Spring Blooms 5x7 inches Oil on Canvas Panel by George De Chiara Click here to bid.  Right around the end of February when the weather started to turn nice here in Texas, my wife and I bought a few flowers for our garden. In the past, we have not done well with flowers. I'm not sure why since our vegetable garden seems to do well. This year we vowed to do better with them. I planted them into clay pots with the hopes of keeping them alive long enough to paint once or twice. Well, I'm happy to report that not only did we manage to keep them alive, they are thriving. All of them have more than doubled in size and blooms. This is the third time I've been able to paint these since we got them. They are going strong and so far haven't shown any signs of slowing down. One of the reasons I think they are doing so well is my 18 month old daughter just loves to dead head them (picking off the flowers that died). Of course she also get's a lot of flowers that are ...

Prairie Fest Cactus by Sheri Jones

Prairie Fest Cactus by Sheri Jones 8x10 oil on canvas I created this during the Prairie Fest in Fort Worth this past Saturday. The day turned out beautiful, but very windy. This was sold to my good friend Doug. Thank you! Sheri@sheriart.net sheriart.net sheriart.blogspot.com

Can't See The Forest For The Trees

This one is out of my head, and I truly must have been out of my head to do it! The verticals of the tress and the abstracted vertical panels peeping in and out, almost tipped the balance for me in many ways! LOL. I used to place geometry in my art many years ago, and it became a favorite passtime, this painting echoes that technique, but very subtly. See more of my art at: www.yessy.com/raeandrews

Escarpment

This was a challenge on such a long elongated format. The painting is for the most part out of my head, and that's always a little scary when one gets to the finish of a work such as this one, sort of flying blind. English Garden oil painting by Niki Gulley

Springtime Reflections ©2011 Niki Gulley 18” x 48” traditional oil on wrap around canvas Pink, white and purple plump rhododendrons line the paths at the lake’s margin. Heavy blooms drowse along the peaceful pond, its still waters broken only by a swan sailing past. Lush bushes, Arcadian landscape, a rock bridge and a classical Greek temple are serene and silent under the overcast sky. Sunlight starts to peek through the cloud-cast and sparkles across the pond. Painted in traditional oils on a panorama canvas using soft edges and dreamy colors, this is a painting of tranquility and a tribute to the classic English landscape. "En Plein Air", by Vonnie Kohn, Floral landscape, oil, Dallas Arboretum

"En Plein Aire" Original oil  9 x 12" $400 Personal check or Paypal I titled this painting "En Plein Air" with the French term meaning "painting outside on location." This isa painting that was in an art show at the Dallas Arboretum. My first attempt to paint "en plein air" was rained out and had to return another day. Such are the hazards of painting on location...along with heat, mosquitoes, and nosy squirrels. During the process of painting in what I thought was a private area just off a pathway, I heard a clicking noise, turned around and found that about 20 people were taking pictures of my creative endeavor! Privacy is another element that is often forfeited when painting out-of-doors. It is also a very good way to meet interesting people. If interested, you may contact me at: http://www.vonniekohn.com/ Thank you for looking...Happy Easter!

My mother went to the ICU this morning by ambulance for her breathing. The good news is she is doing better now and her doctor plans to move her to a regular room tomorrow if all goes well. Carlos, AnnieBee and I returned from delivering art to the gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas, yesterday, so this evening to say we are exhausted is a bit of an understatement. I hope you and your loved ones had a peaceful, joyful, and uneventful Easter holiday. I love being with my family, even in the hospital with mom, we keep one another laughing and share love and good memories. We are very blessed she is feeling better now, and hopeful she will continue to improve. Red Zone and Solo Show, side by side on the easel

Sunday Tradition - Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Sunday Tradition 9x12 inches Oil on Canvas Panel by George De Chiara Click here to bid. This painting reminds me of my childhood. Growing up in an Italian home, every Sunday we had pasta for dinner. All day long the sauce (red lead, gravy, Sunday sauce - take your pick) would simmer on the stove with rest of the ingredients sitting close by to be added at the proper time. Cans of tomatoes, garlic, onions and olive oil would all wait their turn to flavor the meal. A pinch of this, a little more of that, let it simmer for an hour, taste and repeat. On and on it goes for hours. It's a tradition that my wife and I continue to this day, especially since this has turned out to be my little girl's favorite meal of the week.  Visit my web site and blog to see more of my work. http://georgedechiara.com

'Quick Kitchen Painting' 6x9  Available by Suzy 'Pal' Powell Visit my Website www.suzypal.com Visit my Blog  www.suzypal.blogspot.com Email address:  suzypal@lyntegar.com I had a piece of paper that had a weird under-painting on it, so I just drew off this little set up, and painted the painting in less than an hour. working as quickly as possible.leaving some of the under-painting showing through. I tried to put the subject where the white would work best, like the icing on the cupcake, the highlight on the egg. (which looks like potatoes in the scan!)  The main thing was it was fun, and quick. I  have been doing so many of the collages, I have missed the watercolors, but I think it has helped me be a little faster and not so detailed.
