Just Sold - "Triple Passion" Red Roses palette knife oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Triple Passion" ©2015 Niki Gulley SOLD •  48" x 24" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas I love the passion and energy in the color red, so I thought it would be fun to play with the still life I had set up of roses and make a painting where red was the dominant color.  In person, seeing these roses at life size, I wanted the viewer to be swept up in the movement and emotion of this piece. Utilizing flowing spirals, weaving back and forth, playful thick and thin paint in bold, loose strokes, ruby petals emerging and disappearing, all meant to tease and excite your senses. If you have any questions, please   e-mail  Niki Gulley . To see more of Niki Gulley's contemporary floral paintings, visit  NikiGulley.com .

Original Contemporary Modern Art Abstract Paintings by Filomena de Andrade Booth

Moving day is less than a week away and then the real "fun" will begin as we drive from Texas to Florida with 3 very irate and confused cats in the car.  Planning for 3-4 nights in hotels is almost as complicated as planning a trip to Mars!   I am sad to leave this wonderful studio in our home here in China Spring, TX.  I have enjoyed 6 years of creating art in this inspiring space but the time has come to move on to be closer to family, see new places, make new friends and create more new paintings.  My husband and I were fortunate to have sold this home quickly and to have found a new home in a country setting with a good space in which to set up my studio.  I am also looking forward to more opportunities to continue my   Go Big, Go Bold workshops in Florida. I already have several artists eager to join my next class!

Misty by Kay Wyne - Sold!

Misty 30" x 30" Oil on Canvas Contemporary Palette Knife Painting Thanks to  Pam Massar, owner of Dutch Art Gallery  for framing and selling this large landscape painting.  I love the colors on this canvas, they are soft and harmonious, leading the eye into the horizon.  I enjoyed painting the dramatic clouds...I am so pleased that Misty has a new home!  I have more paintings on the easel in the studio as it is too hot and humid to paint outside right now.  Thanks for looking at this blog.... Eastern Bluebird - Female

© AnnHoffpauir A little female Eastern bluebird that lives in one of several bluebird houses on our property. I call them their little condos. I also painted the "condos" the primary colors red, yellow and blue. The bluebirds seem to like the red and yellow one's the most. Actually it takes the female bluebird a few days to make up her mind which one she likes the most. I know, typical female even in the bird world. This is the fourth in my series of painting song birds. This painting also went to the Texas Bluebird Society auction. Shea Baby by Kay Wyne

Shea Baby 24" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas I was looking at this painting, remembering Shea and what a great dog she was.  I really enjoyed painting this one.  I used wide brushes, plenty of paint, and wanted to get her full of life personality on the canvas.  Currently we have three grand-doggies and I might need to paint one of them.  When the dogs are so active, it is necessary to work off of photographs.  So putting a few photograph sessions is on my to-do list.  Contact  Kay Wyne  with any questions or comments on this color and fun painting.  Thanks for looking...Kay

Jimmy Longacre_subjective realist landscape paintings_ RAINY DAY RAZZLE DAZZLE

GRAY RAINY DAYS call for something other than the snappy light and dark patterns of a sunny day.  You have to look for contrasts of a different sort, local color patterns, textures, chromatic shifts.  This subject had all that going on.  The truck was a gorgeous pale tourquoise, with shiny, sparkling paint and chrome.  It was fun to set it against the background of dark oaks and to play up the complementary notes of the roadside wildflowers.  BLUE CHEVY PICK-UP ©Jimmy Longacre 2015 ??x?? oil on canvas panel Jimmy Longacre subjective realist landscape paintings MY WEBSITE MY BLOG: Paintbox & Easel GALLERY LINKS Fredericksburg Art Gallery Fredericksburg TX Mustang Island Art Gallery Port Aransas TX Capital Fine Art Gallery Austin TX

Niki Gulley Now Exhibiting at Davis and Company Fine Art Gallery

"April Rhythms II," Texas Hill Country  ©2015 Niki Gulley SOLD •  36" x 36" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas Just sold through Davis and Company Fine Art Gallery!  In April Rhythms II, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of our Indian Paintbrush, bluebonnets and vibrant wildflowers flowing along the grassy rises and falls of the berms in the Texas Hill Country. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature, April Rhythms is loaded with texture, color and movement. Repeating patterns, shapes and hues in the blooms, sky and distant mesquite trees unite foreground and background and add to the harmony of spring’s symphony. Follow Me by Kay Wyne

Follow Me 12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel Contemporary Palette Knife Painting Floral Landscape I am taking this painting off the easel for now...I signed it, but need to live with it and think about it...I am not sure if it is finished.  It might be that I am finished painting on it for now.  I used a palette knife on this panel...all the way.  Lots of texture and built-up paint.   I started with a rather simple landscape, and wanted the path to fade into the distance.  The wildflowers are scattered throughout the field, and at some points over-lap into the pathway.  I would hope that the viewer can get lost in this painting, enjoying the "unknown" in this painting.  Contact  Kay  for more info on this painting.  Thanks for looking...Kay

American Goldfinch

© AnnHoffpauir The American Goldfinch is one of many song birds or yard birds, that travel through our property every spring and fall. I didn't realize how many different species of birds came our way until I took the time to really look. We have this one, the Goldfinch, Warblers, Eastern Bluebirds and Cardinals just to name a few. I am planning to paint a series of birds, songs birds first. Later, birds of prey and more water birds. If you especially like a particular bird leave me a note and I will paint it and post it. Last Day, Greece Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

Last Day, Greece Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams 7" x 5" oil painting by Niki Gulley On the last day of our Plein Air Painting and Photography Workshop in Greece, some folks shopped, some relaxed by the pool, others continued photographing. I couldn't miss one last opportunity to paint our gorgeous Santorini view from our hotel balcony. Everyone had a lovely, rejuvenating afternoon!  Later that day we all gathered to share what we had painted and photographed during the trip, and sample some of the local wines and cheeses while we discussed the art. To cap off the evening, we treated ourselves to a delicious seafood dinner with another gorgeous view of the ocean, catching up with new friends and savoring our last night. A perfect ending to a perfect trip! Dinner with an amazing view on our last night. Next summer we will be leading an Art Trek to Spain and the following year we will be headed to Tuscany, England and Ireland, so...

Jimmy Longacre_subjective realist landscape paintings_ QUICK APPROACH and PAINTER'S VISION

SEEING AND DESIGNING THE BIG LIGHT/DARK PATTERN is the quickest way I know of for launching into a painting with confidence. Whether outside or in the studio, a quick assessment of the light and dark shapes offers an overview of whether the painting will have "snap".  If there isn't an underlying order to the pattern, the chances are good that I'll become lost trying to make something happen with a subject.   The tendency for the inexperienced painter is to begin trying to draw the "things" in the subject.  The problem with that is that we blind ourselves to the elements that give any painting impact: shape, value, color and edges.  Our usual mode of seeing, I call "common vision".  This is when we see the multitude of "things" before us with endless detail and non-descriminate focus.  We're just taking it all in as information.   "Painter's vision" requires an intentional shift of mode.  In this mode we see...

Village Glow...Semi -Abstract....Pastel over Acrylic and Watercolor...Texas Artist ...Rae Andrews

Okay, I am still doing the pastel over acrylics and using watercolor to pull areas together with this image. I used WILD colors with the acrylics to begin this scene. I think most of you know how much I just LOVE color! I love the interaction of the mixed media, and it allows me my vibrant WILD use of color. I think I prefer the ABSTRACT  genre, but thought I would throw this one in for a bit of a break. Hope you all like it. Jar of Petals by Kay Wyne

Jar of Petals 10" x 10" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel Contemporary Oil Painting My color palette is very vibrant in this painting....which I just completed in the studio.  It is too hot to paint outside in Texas under the hot July sun.  I had fun with this one....I wanted all of the flowers to sing with color.  Here is a pic of my palette that I was working from. There is more brushwork than palette knife on this panel.  I wanted my colors to be bright, vivid and intense.  This painting will be drying in the studio, then I will frame.  Contact  ME  if you have any comments or have an interest in purchasing.  Thanks for looking.... Orange Angel Fish

© AnnHoffpauir An Orange Angel Fish is the third in a series of paintings of salt water fish. These paintings are very exciting to paint because of letting the paint follow the wet misted paper. Day 5, Greece Art Trek with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams - Sunset Cruise

Day 5, Sunset Boat Cruise - Greece Art Trek 8" x 10" oil painting by Niki Gulley That afternoon we rode the cable cars to the port below and caught a boat cruise that ferried us across the bay and around the island at sunset. Stopping at the volcano, some of our group hiked to the top, which was quite intriguing with its sci-fi type lava rock. Meanwhile some of us pulled out our paints and sketched the scenery around us. I particularly liked the casual posture and conversation of these two ladies who were part of our group, so I chose them for my subject. Both were wearing their new hats, which glowed in the sunlight. With just an hour to paint, all we could do is loosely capture a particular feeling. A fun challenge! Next we stopped at a hot spring for anyone who wanted to swim. And, finally we cruised around the island enjoying the view from the water while the sunset on the horizon, sipping some Greek wines and nibbling on some local meats and cheeses. A great ...

Coastal Interlace....Abstract... Pastel....Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

COASTAL INTERLACE  is a slightly larger abstract image than the previous ones I have posted.  In going to a bigger format, I had to really concentrate on CONNECTION and make the top half of the painting still be a part of the lower areas. The board on which this is painted is a RICHESON sanded board. I had a failed landscape on this and did not want to toss the good board. Another reason for using these VERY FORGIVING surfaces. i am fast falling in love with them. I simply washed it down and scrubbed away with an old brush moving the old pastels around. It did not remove all the landscape, however when it dried, I partially pre - wet again in places, and droozled (love that word) my LIQUID ACRYLICS  over areas..I waited till it dried, some patterns were there for me to enhance, some others I needed to totally make up. I had to gradually cover my surface with pastels. The underneath acrylics just glowed with the pastel overlay. As with all these abstracts, it co...

Capturing Sunrise in Santorini with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

Day 5, Sunrise in Oia - Greece Art Trek 8" x 10" oil painting by Niki Gulley The next morning of our Greece Plein Air Painting and Photography Workshop, the photographers got up early to shoot sunrise and I decided to join them. Town was so peaceful and the views were incredible. I chose this strategic location to capture the iconic blue domes over the caldera. It was cloudier this morning which created a peaceful feeling with softer sunrise colors that spread across the sky. I hope you, too, can feel the beauty and tranquility of this special spot. Enjoying a drink that afternoon at our gorgeous pool view. Next summer we will be leading an Art Trek to Spain and the following year we will be headed to Tuscany, England and Ireland, so if you've always dreamed of painting, photographing and sightseeing in Europe, please join us for one of these amazing trip!
